    Smile Goes without saying

Of course women can court men. Real women do. Wussies? Yeah whatever. In the States we have MGTOW (Men Going Their Own Way). Women are losing men big time. because of being backward and hypocritical. I guess it is because there are less and less Germanics. Very sad. Maybe I should move to Northern Europe. Sorry if I sounded provocative. Just saying.

I think it's untraditional, not something I'd see myself doing.

I could at most show some signs that I like a boy, but if he doesn't get the message and ask me out, I am not going to go throw myself at him. It's the male who should take this initiative.

My wife informed me that she got tired of waiting for me to ask her out, so she took it upon herself to do the asking. Two months later we were married, and have been now for twenty-seven years.

I don't court, and coming from a country where men are terrified of commitment it's even more important to me that the man courts me. My American husband brought up marriage early on when we started "dating" and that felt so amazing, that would never have happened with a Swedish guy. My husband was obviously also the one who proposed to me - he picked out the ring, picked a date without my knowledge and it was such a wonderful surprise. If he hadn't courted me and proposed on his own accord I would've felt less desirable I think, I would hate having to push for something like that, almost like forcing him to do it. That would've felt horrible. I love how traditional my husband is compared to men in my home country, to him it's so natural to court me and take care of me, I LOVE it.

Asking someone to marry me or be in a relationship with me is not something I would do, however I see nothing wrong with it. Some men are shy and have trouble expressing what they want, if they happen to click with an extraverted woman who knows what she wants, it may have to be her who makes the first step. No harm done, IMO. It's not typical but then again many other things aren't. What two consenting adults do and what courting ritual they choose is not for me to judge.

I see nothing wrong with a woman asking a man out on a date, which I have done. But my husband is the one who propsed marriage to me, which I would not have done, because I think that is what a man should always do.

Courting and asking someone out isn't the same thing, right? Or is it?

I've been asking out boys/ men, but because I was friendly, not because I wanted to court them. I guess I was misunderstood sometimes. I have many male friends, by the way, and I don't see any problem in it, as we're just friends.

However, I'd prefer men to do their part. Actually all relationships I had were started because the guys had the initiative. When I had the initiative things didn't lead to anything, so again, I think it's best when men do it. Maybe I just didn't have enough patience sometimes, but it's better to have patience, and patience is also a virtue in many spiritual traditions.
