Ah, no heed is to be taken from these 'articles' at all. They're further attacks on ethnic/cultural sovereignty - serving the multicult, yes, but they're clearly-biased, agenda-serving expressions of irrationality.

As Hauke Haien said, it's an ethnocentric work (although it is said that the different 'good' tribes in LOTR are inspired by numerous different European peoples, not just Germanics) therefore if it is to be called 'racist', so must all of the world's cultural myths and sagas - including those Afro-centric traditions. Why is it that something may only be deemed racist when said/written within the last 100 years?

The film actors are all 'whiter than white' because that is how the saga of LOTR intended them to be. Had the film bowed to modern political correctness and used black men to play elves it would have been a disasterous misrepresentation of the book.

These "analyses" of Tolkiens work tell us more about the analysts own prejudices and preconceptions, than they do about Tolkien.

I have not seen any indication that his Orcs are metaphorical blacks, rather he is using an indigenous European mythical creature in his novels.

There are however blacks in LotR, and they are called Haradrim. There are numerous haradim cultures, and some of them follow Sauron in his wars. However, Aragorn does make an honorable peace with them after the war.

Still, Tolkien was a Christian with an immense interest in European mythology, and I believe that is the real reason for some analysts being so enraged when his novels are too popular with ordinary Europeans.

Much can be said about Tolkiens "conservative anarchism", and his Christian anthropology and world-view, but racist it is not.

The complaining is typical. Afther the movie came out some Abou Jah Jah complained about the Arab in the movie, even though the looked more like Persians. And that it was racist because they couldn't speak.

I think that African-American academic has a problem with a movie-trilogy that is positivly Eurocentrestic.

Indeed, there wasn't even a real end to the war. Just like the Architect said.

I love the theme of Determinism in the final two movies.
You mean that Neo couldn't escape his fate and that all him being the Saviour thing was nothing more then a clever plan?

But I did missed a thing in the Matrix. Namely does outside never wonder how do we know if we are realy out of the Matrix.

Funny you should say that. Apparently the Wachowski brothers initially wrote that very predicament into the script - that the 'real' world is just another level of the illusion. But the film company felt that this was too esoteric and too bleak an outcome and insisted it be left out. A little off topic I know but I appear to be one of the only members who loved the Matrix Trilogy.

Saying that the Lord of the Rings series is racist is just another attempt to move to a politically correct, anti-European society. Tolkien wrote an epic of a mythical place set in a mythical time with mythical people and he is accused of being racist... What next? Are they going to call the fast food restaurant Wendy's racist for using a white skinned, blue eyed, red haired girl in the logo?

If a black person were to write a novel about a group of black people killing all the white people and saving the planet from evil Europeans they would be praised.
