Instead of having the usual drawn-out introduction I thought I would start my skadi membership with a short story. In high school our english teacher made us write a paper on Beowulf and what made him a hero. Being a teenager more focused on hockey and girls I wasn't interested in the story. Anyways I cheated on the paper, I copied from an online essay site. The teacher somehow caught on to my cheating and failed me. I Beowulf was the opposite of an anti-social, which I was at the time, I thought it was an utterly brainless story.
Anyways the point of the story, I guess, is that it's weird how things work out, maybe it was fate, maybe it was a coinsendence, who knows? Either way I think it's ironic that I hated the most famous Pre-Christian Germanic tale and ended up, two years later, on this forum.
To end my first post I'd thought I would share some of my interests. I listen to mainly metal, German Thrash, and Black Metal mostly. I enjoy history in general, my favorite era is WWII. I recently read the Saxon Tales by Bernard Cornwell, and I'm trying to learn more about the Viking era. I'm most fascinated with Germans however, being part Bavarian myself. I'm currently taking a first year German course. That's about all I have to say, hope it wasn't to long or painful of an introduction.
