Unique Settlement Discovered in Tromsø (Norway)

On Tønsnes outside of Tromsø archeologists have discovered the oldest permanent settlement in North-Europe. The houses are a thousand years older than the oldest permanent settlement known before. People lived in the houses 9500 years ago. The finds are done in a coming industry-area outside of Tromsø. The archeologists had expected to find small traces of tentcamps, instead they dug up a permanent settlement. The finds shooks on the concept that people didnt live in houses at this time, and here we suddenly have traces of 4 houses. This is a completly unique in north-european context, says excavation-leader Marianne Skandfer to NTB

Sorry for any typo's, I translated from a Norwegian article in a newspaper.

Her venta utgravarane å finne ørsmå spor av teltplassar. I staden skrapa dei fram ein permanent buplass.
