Seeing a man as a man has little to do with whether he cries, and more to do with whether he is comfortable asserting authority and truly leading. Emotions might even make him a more motivated, aggressive, attractive leader.

During difficult times, I will always hold him in my arms. Whether it is due to a death in the family, or just hard times, he is the love of my life. I don't want to see him hurt anymore than he wants me to hurt. So we naturally comfort each other when the tears flow.

A man must be strong all times of his life, a real man never cries. My father never cried, my Grandfather never cried, I never cry. The only tears may be in my heart.

"Remember that, even when those who move you be kings or men of power, your soul is in your keeping alone. When you stand before God, you cannot say, "But I was told by others to do thus,"or that virtue "was not convenient at the time." This will not suffice."

I need my husband to share everything with me. That's the way we both feel most connected. When we first met, I could tell when things were bothering him and it would be a source of a lot of stress for us. I wanted to make him feel better but there was "nothing wrong." Anyone with any kind of connection to someone can tell when that's a lie.

To me, being vulnerable is one of the biggest parts of marriage and it's been nothing but positive for us over the last 13 years.

Women shouldn't think men who don't cry are hard-hearted. It's just not something men often do. I don't know why, we're just not wired that way.
Most people think as they are trained to think, and most people make a majority.

I certainly don't think that! I suppose I was thinking not crying also implied not expressing feelings, but that's obviously a woman's perspective (I'm a big crier). As long as we both feel like we're connecting and expressing ourselves like we need to, no tears are required.

    This poll is badly conceived.

Crying isn't a choice. Men don't choose to cry or not to cry based on whether they perceive it as weak. It's pretty much entirely a hormonal issue.

In some men the impulse to cry gets turned down so strongly that nothing short of a death in the family can trigger it. Those same men, when they were under 15, and when they reach their fifties, cry normally due to regular life stresses. It's very common in my family for the men to simply not cry between the ages of 15-55. Weirdly enough, it also occurred in my grandmother.

It has nothing to do with ideology or conditioning. It also has no impact on the pain you experience. It only means that an important relief outlet is entirely unavailable to you.
    _____

Regarding weakness. Men should not hide weakness, but seek assistance. Humans are a cooperative species, and we are supposed to rely on our communities to achieve levels of reliability and strength that an individual cannot guarantee alone. Allowing your pride to get in the way of your duty is a far greater weakness than any natural incompetence or mistake.
