United States 2008 Election Compilation Thread

Today's update: Obama beats Clinton in Wisconsin, following the pattern of Obama winning in northern states with few blacks.

Clinton continues to hold a lead in the remaining large diverse states of Texas, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, but the 'momentum' effect may induce sheeple to vote for Obama simply because 'he is winning'. Yes, this makes no sense whatsoever, but that is the way people here 'think', unfortunately. However, the Clintons have a bag of nasty tricks a mile deep, and reports are coming of Clinton trying to sway delegates who were elected for Obama to her side.

Browsing through a series of polls, it appears Obama would defeat McCain in a landslide, while McCain would defeat Clinton in a landslide. Obama polls ahead of McCain in the 'swing' states of Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Virginia, and Colorado. McCain polls ahead of Clinton in all of those states, with the rest of the states predicted to vote the same way as in 2004.

A jewish writer for the New York Times is laying the groundwork to place the blame for McCain's impending loss on the Republicans being "too white". In reality, the opposite is true, as the main reason McCain has lost conservative and independent voters is his sponsorship of the attempted illegal alien amnesty last year.

Fun fact of the day: Obama is only 1/8 less white than former Vice President Charles Curtis (3/8 native American), who was on a ticket endorsed by the Ku Klux Klan when elected in 1928 (the opponent was a Catholic

The German news Der Speigel makes this comment, hopefully as unrepresentative of Europe as Frank Rich is of America:

Obama also happens to be the candidate of choice for the foreign press, which explains why European correspondents tend to greatly amplify American voters' enthusiasm for him in their dispatches. Many in Europe would like nothing more than a "European" America. A former community organizer from Chicago seems to be the ideal candidate for all countries, especially Germany, in which public servants shape politics. Obama personifies Europe's hopes for a modern America: black, socially minded and gentle.

Why does "black" figure into Europe's hopes for a modern America? :

Because American foreign politics failed, and most Europeans wants the Iraq war to end. It's not a question of black or white but who can serve the nation best.

Yet that's not what the quote said. It said that Obama personifies Europe's hope for a modern America - BLACK, socially-minded, and gentle.

Yes, one can only hope Europe's media is as traitorous and unrepresentative of the population as America's

As to the Iraq War, the only only candidate who would end the Iraq War and reverse America's current foreign policy, Ron Paul, now has little chance of success, and has been forced to return home and defend his seat in the national legislature against a challenge from his own party (the neo-con Chris Peden, or Pedenphile as we call him). McCain would be Bush X2, and Clinton and Obama will likely just scale down patrols in Iraq to reduce casualties but leave the status quo in place, just as Bush left the Clinton status quo in place in the former Yugoslavia. The Democrats (the opposition party to Bush) won control of both houses of the national legislature in the 2006 elections because of opposition to the Iraq War and corruption/bad policy in the Bush regime, yet they have done nothing to stop the war or reverse any of the bad things of the Bush regime.

Well than, the question is Pants or Skirt? Americans still have to choose.

America is in the downwar spiral and the next president who is elected is just going to mess things up even worse. I, personally, would like Ron Paul in office, but that more than likely won't happen. So, Americans are going to have to suffer with:

McCain = Another 4-years of a Bush regime.
Clinton = Four more years of Bill.
Obama = Four more years of a learn-as-you-go politician.

Regardless, these candidates mentioned are not capable of running a country successfully; just running it further into the ground.

    Nader running for president
Consumer advocate announces third-party bid on ‘Meet the Press’

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23319781

WASHINGTON - Ralph Nader is launching a third-party campaign for president.

The consumer advocate made the announcement Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press." He says most Americans are disenchanted with the Democratic and Republican parties, and that none of the presidential contenders are addressing ways to stem corporate crime and Pentagon waste and promote labor rights.

Last month, Nader began an exploratory presidential campaign and launched a Web site that promises to fight "corporate greed, corporate power, corporate control."

Nader's appearance on "Meet the Press" was announced Friday in an e-mail message from Nader's exploratory campaign. The message from "The Nader Team" urges supporters to tell friends and family to watch the show and requests online contributions.

"As you know, we've been exploring the possibilities in recent weeks," the message said.

Nader also ran as a third-party candidate in the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections. He is still loathed by many Democrats who call him a spoiler and claim his candidacy in 2000 cost Democrats the election by siphoning votes away from Al Gore in a razor-thin contest in Florida.

Nader has vociferously disputed the spoiler claim, saying only Democrats are to blame for losing the race to George W. Bush.

Though he won 2.7 percent of the national vote as the Green Party candidate in 2000, Nader won just 0.3 percent as an independent in 2004, when he appeared on the ballot in only 34 states.

Nader was forced to fight dozens of court battles over ballot access in 2004, as Democrats pressed legal challenges over whether he gained enough legitimate signatures to get his name on the ballot.

I thought the election was in November, nine months away. That is a political eternity. Only a few weeks ago it looked like Clinton v Romney.
