Are you serious? I guess, you do live in California.

For what it's worth, fresh out of college in my occupation in Australia, I would be at or around $60,000 (AUD). Average rents being around $1400-1600 a month and buying is impossible when shit houses start at ~$200k with an hour long commute.

Now, I live in Florida and I currently make around $62000 (USD), pay about $900 for rent and can usually save 300-400 a month without my wife having to work. I could buy a pretty decent house for around $125k. Life's way cheaper here.

I'd get the hell out of CA.

Coming from a country like Sweden where we pay taxes to get good and very affordable healthcare etc, then yes America is very, VERY expensive. It doesn't matter that we pay less taxes here when a single regular health insurance for ONE person costs CRAZY amounts each month.

Same goes for car insurance, costs for Internet, day care, phone plans etc - I just never thought it was possible for so normal, everyday type things to be this expensive. It wasn't until I moved here that I realized how good I had it back in Sweden in regards to the finances etc.

So no, I'm not kidding.

Well it's not a perfect comparison because you live in a very lefty-socialist state. California's state tax is the highest at 11% on top of all the standard taxes. California is actually like Swedish democratic socialism on drugs where half of the population is probably illegal and don't have to pay for almost anything.

Where I am, all the other stuff like telecomm. is actually the same or cheaper. California is going to be a lot more expensive generally because LA is a very expensive city in the nicer areas. It would be like making this comparison if you lived in NYC, which can be twice as expensive as anywhere else in the country.

I felt the same way when I first moved to the US, though. It seems like there's this up front cost that seems reasonable and lower, but there's all the tacked on little essential extras you don't find out about until later. I think the whole sales-tax-not-included-on-the-listed-price is the best example of that. I mean yeah I'm with you there, sure. I pay $140 PER WEEK for just my wife and I, and this is employer-subisidized. Which is also more than I pay in taxes. I pay about $150 per month for car insurance, $10 a month for renter's insurance, etc etc. And then you probably need the supplemental insurance, maybe the vision, the dental and then the cancer, heart attack and stroke insurance (lol).

The worst part about America is that I actually pay barely less in taxes than I did in Australia, and Australia has a pretty decent system that I think outpaces even the Nordic countries. Makes you realize how truly fucked the United States Federal Government financially.

But even despite that, I think if you left California you might be a bit surprised. Easier said than done though, of course. But I'd imagine you'd want out of there anyway considering the demographic state of things.

I'm ready. As stupid as it sounds, I think I'm in the right age and my situation is more or less stable. But I have high expectations about the right partner and I'm not sure if I found that one guy. The 'one'. Never thought that I could become so 'romantic'. I had are more rebellious strain in the past. I think that's just growing up.

Oh, and I don't want to live in a city. Screw these filth-filled SJW holes.

How is the countryside there in Germany? Is it anything like rural America?
