Requesting some format rules to original posts to have some depth and worth to them. I know I am new here but one thing that's bugging me is the lack of depth to people's original posts. 3 examples I'd like to cite which I personally think can be improved ...
Lack of Source Material: I come across a ton of posts which have really good information on ON stuff, archaeological, general history with no sources cited. They read well, are most likely accurate and plenty informative, but where does the information come from ? I think many people here would like to know what and where much information is obtained, which in turn regards the credibility of the information.
Lack of News Article with News Post: I'm coming across simple news posts which are not much more then a link to a news story. It would be nice to not have to link multiple times to get the jist of what the main original post is about. A simple excerpt out of a news article would at least bring a little depth to the post.
Lack of Personal Insight or Link into News Post: Happening across posts which either don't link the original news article or lack insight into how the original poster feels about the article.
This is a great discussion forum, but to create a decent discussion requires some effort. Anyone can just post a link or some quotes, but that's doesn't bring plenty of depth to a discussion. My suggestion is a little bit of an enforcement of depth to original posts.
As an example of news posts especially, here is an idea for a format ...
"excert from article"
Own personal interpretation
This creates an excellent read and already creates a discussion into how the original poster feels about the article in topic. It is an idea to keep a discussion forum into discussion topics, not just 0 effort link posting. There are enough Reddit type forums out there. Otherwise I love the forum and glad to be aboard. My criticism is only meant to improve the forum.
