Best Picture for Console Games?

Which is the best way to experience old 16bit and 32bit consoles on a modern television or monitor? I'm just curious for when I settle down again. Remember I'm no good at technological stuff and it will be a small television. Can you still buy switches to put more than one console on the same screen? (Preferably without buying things online.)

Without the scamlines a crisp picture is not what I want.

For old PC games DOSBox works fine.
