IXQUICK/StartPage / Anonymous Google
Just wanted to give this tip:
IxQuick is a dutch company providing the most anonymous search-engine in the world, at:
It's a search engine gathering results from many other search-engines.
What's great with IxQuick is that they've laid down a lot of work in ensuring that YOUR IP-address is NOT collected in their LOG's. They even have third-party revision-companies revisioning them, making sure what they claim is actually true.
I tried converting to IxQuick for a while, but had a hard time letting go of google, which is, noone can deny it, an awesome service....
.. BUT: It turns out IxQuick even hosts a google-proxy kind of:
This is an anonymous shell upon google, providing the same privacy-assurances as IxQuick, but with google-results. (I really don't understand how google approves of this... but it seems they do...)
AND: As with the IxQuick-searchEngine, you can choose to open the search-results in the "IxQuick-proxy", which is a HTTPS-proxy, and, being IxQuick, NOT at ALL recording your IP-address.
So... for paranoid people like me: make https://startpage.com/ your start-page instead of google... (and install HTTPS-everywhere if you're in firefox).....
...of course,..... with EU enforcing more and more tyrannic/anti-free-speech-laws... this probably won't be allowed forever.... but "until it sleeps".... very much recommended......

Ixquick - Private Search Engine
I would suggest performing your searches through Ixquick.com. If you have not heard about it I believe it is a Danish search engine which does not log your IP address or your search information. That's not to say who might or might not be monitoring your actual computer, but it is a step in person. private internet search security. Their statement is as follows:

Ixquick Stops Recording Browser and Platform Information Entirely.
Great news! As of this week, Ixquick will no longer record browser type and platform information (also known as the "user agent") of our users. This change has gone live on both Ixquick and our sister search engine Startpage (www.Startpage.com), and translation of the text into non-English languages is underway.
We don't collect any personal information on our visitors. Nada. Zilch. Zero.
When you use Ixquick, we do not record your IP address, we do not record which browser you are using (Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox, etc.), we do not record your computer platform (Windows, Mac, Linux, etc.), and we do not record your search words or phrases. In fact, the only information we do record is an aggregate total of how many searches are performed on our website each day (a measure of overall traffic), and those overall traffic numbers broken down by language.
Our zero data collection policy protects your privacy, since your IP address, browser, and platform information can be combined with other data to uniquely identify your computer, your location, or you. It is also important not to record search terms, since they can convey personal information as well. (Think of someone entering their own name and/or social security number.)
We're always looking for more ways to protect your privacy, and now we've gotten our data collection down to literally nothing. We are delighted with this new arrangement, and believe our users will be too! "
Give it a shot.
