I do smoke literally about one cigarette per year, on average.

I smoked my last cigarette almost one month ago and my second-last one in June 2011. And my third-last one... I really can't remember, probably around 2009 or so.

I really don't know why most smokers exaggerate smoking so much, they literally smoke every day, which is absolutely crazy in my opinion. This is so unhealthy.

I think one or at most two cigarettes per year is a good amount and I can only recommend staying or getting at this level if you are a smoker. You're not totally missing the experience of smoking but it is much healthier this way, because too much smoking causes various health issues and fertility problems.

I hate it when people smoke indoors, this is disgusting. Smoking should only be allowed outdoors. And it should be completely forbidden to smoke near children, babies or pregnant women. And if you're pregnant, you shouldn't smoke at all, of course.

No

A lot of my family members did smoke, some still do. It's been a cause for a lot of health problems for my family already, my grandmother had COPD from smoking for 60 years. I've smoked before, but I never made a habit out of it and I don't plan on touching the things ever again. They're a detriment to society and especially strong, healthy white people.

I smoked for four years. Then I grew the courage to admit how weak I was because of my dependency. I quit cold turkey. In those days I would drive 20 minutes out of my way to the store at 2 am to buy a pack just to smoke 1 cigarette.

The health issues weren't a good enough scare tactic for me. It was seeing myself as a weak creature that really provoked me to quit. I think if people would have shunned me, told me I smelled bad, and made fun of me for needing a cigarette every couple of hours, and just made a general mockery out of my life I would have quit sooner.

I don't entirely know. Some research indicate that opinions and ideas that are frequently challenged becomes more entrenched then those opinions that are treated with mild disdain.

You could easily get the impression that a lot of people stick with their cigarettes because they don't like to be told what to do by do-gooders and know-it-alls. This is of course a bad reason to do anything but human beings have a tendency to do things for all the wrong reasons...

I don't smoke and never will as it's simply disgusting.

When I go to the shopping mall I often see all these 16-17 year olds (mostly girls) standing outside smoking and I always think that they really shouldn't pollute their germanic bodies like that, it makes me sad...

No and I put it down entirely to my fathers highly effective (though entirely unwitting) example.

Throughout my childhood my father smoked a pipe everyday. He smoked it indoors and even in the car on journeys long or short and he did this even though at the time I had a mild case of asthma. He'd roll down a window while in the car alright but I still found the smoke an annoyance. I have never forgotten the irritation that pipe smoke can cause in the throat and lungs. As a direct result of these experiences which were repeated frequently between the ages of 3 and 18 I have never experienced even the slightest temptation to smoke.

Aye! I myself have problems letting go of that particular wrong reason.
And smoking is about as much anti-trend you might possibly get...

I don't smoke but my boyfriend smokes. He promised to quit when we have kids but his attempts so far make me concerned this is unlikely to happen. Guess he might end up spending a lot of time in the garden.

I do not smoke, never have or ever intend to. I know several people who do, however, and they all seem to end up having serious health problems one way or another. Plus, my grandfather smoked heavily and died at 67 and my grandmother, who never smoked, is 83 and still alive. Good enough indication to not smoke, eh?
