Here is a map of the Baden-Schwaben (Swabian) divide, which is still forming regional loyalties today.

Thank you. I dare say, I never thought of myself or my forebears as Swabians, either. Not that there's anything wrong with being Swabian.

Hey, I have a question for any Germans on here;
How do Franconians generally consider themselves in regard to Bavaria and Bavarians? Are they okay with being part of Bavaria, or do they have their own identity?

No, they do not like being part of Bavaria, but they do not suffer either. Once in a while there is some form of "movement" to separate from Bavaria, but never with any success. Most people have come to terms with being officially part of Bavaria and don't really care. We just don't want to be confused with Bavarians, because we do have our own identity (and dialect).

Freedom for Franconia!
