I'm a dummy, and I'd like to try Sushi...
How does a dummy make sushi? What's the recipe even I can make?

I have no idea how it tastes, I'd like to try it though.
Alas, I live in Serbia, which is a Sushi and Sushi-accessory free zone.

Don't try Pufferfish (fugu) as your first prepared dish AWAR, We need you around here.

"In spite of (or perhaps because of) this potential danger, some people eat pufferfish to get high. In Japan, pufferfish is a delicacy because diners supposedly experience a sense of euphoria after eating it. There, people prefer a pufferfish of the genus Fugu (not found in Hawaii), thus the name fugu for this potentially lethal dish.

In Japan, specially trained chefs must pass rigorous licensing tests to prepare fugu in restaurants. This law has decreased the number of deaths in Japan from about 100 per year earlier in the century to about five per year in the past decade. None of these recent deaths came from poisoning in Japanese restaurants; they involved fishermen who prepared their own fish. "

I still remember that Simpsons episode where Homer ate the fugu

The weird thing about Sushi is that it hardly tastes like anything. You need to follow each piece of Sushi with a chaser of booze in order to make it worth your while to eat the stuff.

if you find the notion of eating rawed fish in sushi revolting, i'd suggest you try korean sushi, the major difference being that the meat is cooked

                          Re: SUSHI for DUMMIES

I concur, I have tried it twice and I still don't get what the whole fuss is all about!

To me, it seems completely tasteless and unimaginative, I might as well be eating paper and I would not tell the difference

I guess it is a fad throughout Europe (imported from NYC?), and most Europeans are "forced" to eat it and like it so as to look "cool" and go with the flow..

I'll stick to traditional food, Greek, Italian, French and German cuisine, thank you!

BTW, why eat sushi when you can have B.M.'s delicious pies..!

Well, if the quality is fine, I really like Sushi and Maki, though I dont think its really cheap or easy to try to make quality Sushi on your own...
