Personally I prefer Maria K.Lewell (number 9).

Some of them are okay, but it is easy to find better-looking women on the streets of Oslo. As usual, the most attractive women don't seem to bother with beauty contests.

No. 8 should be .... :viking4:

No. 8 should be .... :viking4:I agree with Loki. It seems too arbitrary and I find the most attractive women when I least expect it, at least along the lines of media outlets who think in such stereotypical leanings.

Well Karoline N Nakken (no. 6) won and the darkie "Shauntavia Loo" won New Norwegian Model of The Year :viking2:

I personally preferred no. 10 Marte Kristoffersen, beautiful eyes

All of them are very average. I'd go with number 13, probably.

Very disappointing.

Number 10 was the only one who caught my attention.

Notice tho that they have to find a mixed black that looks very Caucasoid in order to try and convince people blacks are somewhat attractive... but what makes them less ugly is the white ancestry.

There are several women on this forum who are more beautiful than this group who won the contest.

My top three would be:

10. Marte Kristoffersen (very striking eyes)
13. Julie Hegle
9. Maria K. Lewell

No. 12 (Selia P. Hussein) definately looks mixed.
No. 15 (Nina K. Birkic) perhaps Croatian descent, with dyed hair.

From the pictures on that site I made three categories based on what I feel when I look at them, from most attractive to somewhat attractive to least or non-attractive. I left out the Congoid obviously.

This is not a measure of their worth as a person, just my reaction to their physical traits and beauty.

I agree. None of them were that nice looking. Number 10 being the exception, she would still look the best without blue eyes though. The others just lagged behind too much.

At least Miss African-Norway didn't win...

very true. the really attractive women do not need a beauty contest for any kind of self-validation. they realize they are attractive but they don't have the obsessive vanity that typically attracts the beauty award contestants.

This is so sickening that the contest should be called Miss No Way, hahaha.....ugly competition.

I voted for numbre eight though. In serious talk, numbre eleven was cute. If I speak to her and she is not dumb or liberal, then I would walk aside her and get to know her, but I do not like make ups.

My favorites are numbers ten and thirteen.

I doubt that they'd give fat, ugly old me the time of day though. Oh well :guinness:

Edit: is it just me or do numbers two and six looks almost identical?

The who seems most compatible to me would be No. 16 (Camilla), and yes 2 and 6 do look like the same person.

I honestly believe that most of these girls are of average or below average looks for Norwegians.
I thought Norway was quite a feminist place when I was in it (I was mainly mixing amoung students) and since most beauty pagent contestants are of college age, I wonder if that could be the reason the contest seems to have drawn such a mediocre selection of talent.
The other thing which strikes me is that the proportion of hazel eyes, dark hair, sallow skin and un-nordic facial features of many of the models gives a fairly inaccurate impression of the Norwegian population as a whole.

Indeed. Where did they manage to find so many browneyed girls.I have been under the impression that Norwegians have more brown eyes than other Northern countries, but yes, there is propably too many brown eyed girls represented compared to all Norwegians.

After seeing the pictures of the Norwegian beauty pageants, I must say that after all their Finnish colleagues were of far better quality: http://www.forums.skadi.net/showthread.php?t=6756

This (http://www.dagbladet.no/kultur/2005/02/05/422544.html?i=10) one seems quite lovely though :)

Yes, Miss Norway 2004 Kathrine Soerland is very nice:

Also Miss Sweden 2004 Katarina Wigander:

http://www.forums.skadi.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=3782&stc=1

I think the contestants look best when shown wearing their national costumes (see attached). However it's a bit different for new world countries, that don't have any traditional folk costumes - check out this abomination worn by Miss USA 2004 :rotfl::

The really attractive women do not need a beauty contest for any kind of self-validation. they realize they are attractive but they don't have the obsessive vanity that typically attracts the beauty award contestants. This is one reason why contests to find, for example a 'Miss Norway', that are held outside the country of Norway, are more able to find what could be described as 'a typical Norwegian girl'. Young women entering these contests appear to be motivated by more than just vanity and a desire to be recognised as beautiful.

For example, there is a 'Miss Norway of Greater New York' contest. Here is a link to an article about last year's contest:

http://www.forums.skadi.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=3787&stc=1
http://www.norway-times.com/2004_Main_Stories/Main_story_15.html (http://www.norway-times.com/2004_Main_Stories/Main_story_15.html)

This appears to be more than just a beauty contest, but also an event celebrating women of Norwegian heritage. The women dress in traditional 'bunads', celebrate Norwegian culture, and the winner wins a trip to her racial homeland.

Most importantly, it would seem that women of non-Norwegian heritage cannot enter. An honorary judge at last years event, Norwegian businessman Geir Ness, says "I think it is important that they (the contestants) appear Norwegian.":viking3:

By comparison, the Miss Norway competition where the winner goes on to represent Norway in the Miss Universe paegent, is open to mongrel women of any race, colour or creed who have been given a piece of paper by a traitorous Norwegian government saying that they are somehow 'Norwegian'.

Number 13 would get my vote for being the most Scandinavian-looking and the cutest. :animal-sm

http://www.forums.skadi.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=3788&stc=1

Number 7 has an intresting face, and would get my vote if there was a category where points were awarded based on my idea of what traits are most peculiar to Norway , could be called the Cross-country-skier category, perhaps..

http://www.forums.skadi.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=3789&stc=1

Seriously though, I actually did once meet a female cross-country skier from just to the north of Trondheim, who had a bone structure fairly identical to this girl, and I have not seen the same look anywhere else. Quite striking, really.

I may be too old for this sort of entertainment, but i clearly remember when Icelandic Hofi Karlsdottir won the Miss World Contest back in 1985. In my opinion she makes all of todays competitors look like something that have been pulled out of Dali and Picassos worst nightmares.

Hofi is ofcause the girl on the right.

Oh, by the way... I do believe in love at first sight.

Personally I prefer Maria K.Lewell (number 9).

Nos 5,7,9,10,13, and 16 look like they should qualify. The rest - Norwegian? NEIN.

No. 15 has clear Jewish heritage.
