Raggare is a Swedish sub-culture of youths with, preferrably, large American cars from the 50's and 60's. The sub-culture has been around since the 50's, and apart from some in Norway I believe it is a totally Swedish concept. Since it is an unknown subculture abroad, since most raggare are ethnically aware (it is one of the most Swedish subcultures), and since some of my best friends are raggare, here is a little introduction for the good people of Skadi.

Most raggare are very interested in American culture, with the cars, the films, and the music. The Confederate flag is very popular among them, often used as a way of showing ethno-racial pride, and a defiance of Leftist society:

The music of choice for raggare is old American music (Elvis, rockabilly, bluegrass) and old Swedish music, called dansband (dansband is basically similar to the music of the 60's from America). But the individual raggare of course also may listen to metal, wp or even techno. No real raggare have ever been found listening to hiphop however.

Raggare usually form clubs, here is an example of one, with many pics of cars and also the tradition of cruising:

A Danish one. Apparently the culture spread:

Raggare sometimes gather for large, national meetings, the best-known example would probably be the annual Powermeet in Västerås.
