Days of Mediterranian Sea are numbered and so are those of the Atlantic. Continents coming together again. Africa and Arabia fuse into Europe, India juts out in a new mediterranian inland sea. Only problem, we slip closer to equator. (http://www.scotese.com/future2.htm)

I can't be arsed clicking the link, but isn't Pangea Ultima millions of years in the future? Nothing to worry about, really. :P

Don't say that I did not warn you people. Did you notice, Ireland, England, Portugal, and Morocco with be the northern most countries?

I don't think mankind will survive that long.

Well, the continental drift is a very interesting thing. Im always fascinated about how our world looked like in the past...and will be in the future.

Pangea Ultima is quite surely nothing to fear...in 250 mio. years. Sure, what we call nowadays "Africa" and "Arabia" will come closer to Europe and the sea-borders will decline until they are closed, but the good thing is that "we" will get a very high mountain range directly between Europe and Africa...mountains higher than the todays Himalaya! Wooohoo, wintersports for the way! :P

The other thing is that the robust african shelf will push up the European continent while, on the other side, Asia drifts down to the equator. This is because the sheer mass of Africa is stronger than the mass of Europe. Consequence is that Europe will be far more nord than nowadays. -> Not a bad thing, isnt it?

The most funniest thing Ive ever heard about Pangea ultima and the upcoming unity of Europe and Africa was the answer of a friend on that topic:

"Oh nooo, then all the african foreigners and poor immigrants will come to Europe more easily!! And the whole arabic terrorists and muslims, too! Noo...thats worse! :( " :D

My answer: "Ohhhh...keep in mind that in 150-250 mio. years, mankind will be vanished. There will be no "Blacks" or "Muslims", no "Whites" or "Christians". Mankind is something temporarly on earth. Keep in mind that mankind exists only for around 4-5 mio. years until now. And the modern human, Homo sapiens, not even 200.000 years!! How naive are you to think that in 250 mio. years the world will be inhabitated by the same race, same people and same cultures?

Mankind will evolve to a thing we cant even think of...or we will die out. 250 Mio. years ago, the dinosaurs ruled that planet! 250 mio. years in the future...be sure that the problems of our very short history will be absolutely no matter in the distant future. We are just an episode on this planet.

By the way:

Ive read in an other source that the hispanic peninsula will seperate from the European continent (the mediterreanian sea will flood between the current border of Spain and France) in the next 50-70 mio. years. This may happen because Europe is drifting clockwise while the hispanic peninsula drifts anti-clockwise somehow. Maybe Ill find the source again. The hispanic peninsula will be an island near Europe like England today then.

The not soo distant future is interesting, too: Just look on the map of the future in 150 mio. years:

Somebody will take an extended trek from Morocco to Calcutta over the combined Eruo-himalayas, even if not a Homo, and will be hailed as Marcopolo was. Himalayas are still rising.

I wonder if we will go extinct, be surpassed by more evolved "humans" or colonize other planets and leave earth behind.

Sure we will be extinct and a new speci would take over, as certain as death. Neanderthals lasted for (not sure, but let us imagine) for 350,000 years. Where is this new speci to come from? Old place as always, Africa, or some place else. How would we treat the new speci or smother them before they are a danger to us, or let them prosper in the spirit of peace? Any one to make a guess? We have been here for 150,000 years, is the new speci already there? Other planets, there are only two possibles, and both not easy for large numbers, no real help.
