View Full Version : Do You Prefer Blondes, Brunettes, Or Redheads?

All other things being equal, whom would you prefer as a partner?

In my life... I've kind of went through several stages when it came to hair color.

One particular was pretty much my last. I pretty much refused myself to be attracted to blondes for... some god-forsaken reason. I can't remember it exactly. Finally, after some introspection I pretty much accepted the fact that, when i added them up, I was attracted to a lot more blondes than I was brunettes or redheads. However, the blondes i counted were natural blondes. So i was like, "Ah, ok. So you like NATURAL blondes... it's the fake ones you hate."

And that's pretty much the same idea i stand by today. I kid around a lot with friends about the fantasy of a 6 foot redhead in a lace teddy, but in the end, blondes do it for me.

Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with brunettes, but i only find so few actually attractive. As for Redheads i've seen some outright gorgeous ones, but most i've met face-to-face have been a far cry from anything you'd call eye candy (Yeah, I realize i sound shallow, and i don't mean to be. But for what it's worth, the one's i got to meet weren't very nice personality-wise either.)

I can't really stomach it how most of the women my age bleach/dye/highlight their hair, and then goto a fake-n-bake (tanning salon) to get a nice, dark, look-I'm-almost-a-black-person tan. I mean... seriously, if they when outside a bit more not only would they get a safer, cheaper tan, but their hair would turn lighter (though those with brunette hair wouldn't turn ash-blonde.) If you're going to do something, mind as well do it right... right?

I chose: I'm female, and I would prefer a blond as a partner. But actually I like blonds, brunets, dark brown hair, strawberry blond, reddish brown, golden- every hair color except for bright orange or deep Bozo the Clown red. :)

I would prefer a brunette or a redhead partner not specially for aesthetic reasons( blondes are often very pretty) but mainly for temper reasons (energy and sensuality). Anyway as we say in France : "à chacun ses goûts !"

I am dismayed that there are no female votes for redheaded men yet.... ;( For some bizarre reason, women don't seem to like very red men, I have noticed. Of course, the opposite is true - men generally like red women.

My first preference is for natural blonde women.

Redheaded men are fine, in my opinion- They're just rare, so naturally there are less attractive redheaded men than blonds or brunettes.

Which brings up the question of should one breed with a redhead then if redheaded males will be at such a disadvantage? Sad but true.

I don't really like ginger hair, but I think red (not ginger) hair on a girl can be extremely sexy.

Also, my last girlfriend had very dark brown hair.

I saw a black woman with long brown hair and chocolate coloured skin, she looked absolutely stunning.

I think that black hair and very pale skin and blue eyes on a girl looks great too.

Though to be honest I'm not really that bothered. If they're fit they're fit. ;)

Generally, only the most refined, tasteful, and distinguished men prefer redheads and since their are so few of those, we get fewer votes. No loss. Did you know that the "reddisism" or whatever lol, is a trait bequeated from the NEANDERTHALS?

Well, we don't want to jump to conclusions, do we? ;) Indeed the matter has not been brought to the end, and many of those sources point to the fact that the red hair gene is as old as the Neanderthals, but did not necessarily originate in them. The latest studies have even established that the gene must have been more recent.

"According to the most recent estimates, the first red hair sprouted just 20,000 years ago, long after the advent of modern homo sapiens and towards the end of the last great ice age.

Some have even argued that redheads such as Nicole Kidman, Charlie Dimmock, Chris Evans and Neil Kinnock could have inherited a trait originally passed on to modern man by the Neanderthals."

""We don't know with certainty when the first redheads walked the earth," says Prof Rees. "But we believe these changes arose in less time than we thought, maybe 20,000 to 40,000 years ago."

The red-headed gene mutation is rarely found in people of African descent. Evolutionary experts have argued that it cropped up after ancestors of white Europeans left the continent and moved northwards around 70,000 to 100,000 years ago.

This is true. Some blacks have reddish undertones.

"The explanations generally fall into two groups," says Prof Rees. "The first is that there may have been some advantage to having red hair and pale skin. One reason for this is that you make vitamin D in your skin and therefore you're less likely to get rickets if you have pale skin and there is not much sunlight around."

[B]The team's analysis of the red-headed gene, however, found little evidence that red hair and pale skin were a positive trait added to mankind's genetic heritage by natural selection outside Africa."

"With the redhead gene, you don't see any evidence for selection. The changes we see are compatible with just random change," said Prof Rees. "The gene is more important in Africa than it is in Europe. You mustn't have pale skin and bright red hair in Africa. That would make sense."

Of course, red hair is not exclusively found in pale-skinned people. In Jamaica, there are families with deep brown skin and bright red hair. On the island, the red-hair gene was brought from Europe a few hundred years ago, possibly by white sailors who fathered children there.

If the Edinburgh team are right, and the redhead gene originated only 20,000 to 40,000 years ago, it may kill off a theory that emerged last year - that the red-hair gene originated in the Neanderthals.

The idea was based on a claim that the gene was at least 100,000 years old and so may have been present before modern man left Africa. To pass into our DNA, our ancestors would have had to have interbred with Neanderthals - an unfashionable theory among the experts in human origins.

"It has been widely reported that the gene originated in Neanderthal man. Dr Harding says this just isn't true: 'We have never stated in our research that this gene is Neanderthal, but at the moment I cannot statistically prove that it isn't which is why others have drawn these conclusions.' It is thought that now people are moving around the world and meeting people from other cultures, the red hair gene is being spread into areas where it would not naturally occur, such as Jamaica. Red hair is also found in Papua New Guinea although it's not known why." (source (http://www.ox.ac.uk/blueprint/2000-01/3105/11.shtml))

Hmmm. When I was younger, there was some teasing about my hair color, but nothing much as an adult other than Carrot Top and the tiresome remarks about us having bad tempers. Most men seem to be fascinated by it, actually. You need to hang out with a better quality of man.

When we're younger differences like that are the object of childhood jokes. But later in adulthood I think it can be a sign of beauty and uniqueness among a sea of darkhaired people. This applies more to women though. The real burden is on the redheaded males, who women seem to value the least. Although in the case of the comedian Carrot Top, it may have played in his favor, as he stands out not only because of his unique style of comedy, but also because of his phenotype and hair.

I'm personally fascinated by redheaded women, especially Skadi's own überbabe Sigrun. :)

There are other biological differences with redheads, which may influence the perception of this "redheaded temper" many claim. Doctors give redheads 20% more anesthesia than darkhaired people. Redheads are physically more sensitive to pain, and perhaps more emotionally sensitive as well. Since redheads are concentrated in Northwest Europe, i.e. Ireland and Scotland, this may be the reason for the "Irish temper" and the Irish and Scottish being renowned as great warriors. Which during Sweden's great military expansion (1611-1718 A.D) made many Scotsmen honorary Swedish and were absorbed into the noble class.

Redheads definitely belong to the nobility, and their purity will be better preserved under the Nordish rather than "white" model.

I voted the first option. I currently like a beautiful blonde/blue-eyed Maltese girl, too bad we're not together. I personally do not like women with darker features then my own, I don't particular like ultra-blonde hair though even though it is attractive I prefer women with my same dark blonde hair (like the girl I like) or a really light golden brown hair colour.

Redheads like Sigrun are gorgeous (and if I met her I'd switch to red for sure, lol), hehe, some brunettes are attractive (and very attractive), and women with black straight hair are particularly attractive if they are pale and with light eyes. As I said women with darker features then my own are not my type in general, though I can always make exceptions (except on race, no way!), I don't really like curly dark hair in particular if it goes with tanned skin (especially if it is a permanent tan). Eyes not darker then my own light brown eyes or teddy bear brown according to someone, lol.

So it's mostley dark hair pale skin or red hair and pale skin :D and yes it's a shame there are so few red-haired men. ;(

I think everyone who recalls my old posts here (or even my current posts at SAF) knows of my particular affection for blondes... :)

I don't think I have any set preferences. If I'm in love in a red-head. I think all readheads are the most beautyfull in the world.

And I think when it comes to beauty, there's a paradoxal democracy. I mean among the real beautys. It's impossible to tell who is the most beautyfull.
An European, an asian or an african woman.
But among the women "you see every day". I think our swedish women are the most beautyfull. It strikes me everytime I come home from abroad.

But then I think I have two favorites: A blond woman- not every blond- but this really glowing golden hair- saturated with all colours, and a sun-tanned body.
And a brunette- with very shiny ravenblack hair, blue eyes, and milky complexion.

If I knew how (lol), I'd change my answer to red haired males. Lately I've found out I'm more attracted to them ;) .
