View Full Version : Piggy Banks 'offend Moslems'

British banks are banning piggy banks because they may offend some Muslims.

Halifax and NatWest banks have led the move to scrap the time-honoured symbol of saving from being given to children or used in their advertising, the Daily Express/Daily Star group reports here.

Muslims do not eat pork, as Islamic culture deems the pig to be an impure animal.

Salim Mulla, secretary of the Lancashire Council of Mosques, backed the bank move.

"This is a sensitive issue and I think the banks are simply being courteous to their customers," he said.

However, the move brought accusations of political correctness gone mad from critics.

"The next thing we will be banning Christmas trees and cribs and the logical result of that process is a bland uniformity," the Dean of Blackburn, Reverend Christopher Armstrong, said.

"We should learn to celebrate our difference, not be fearful of them."

Khalid Mahmoud, the Labour MP for a Birmingham seat and one of four Muslim MPs in Britain, also criticised the piggy-bank ban.

"We live in a multicultural society and the traditions and symbols of one community should not be obliterated just to accommodate another," Mr Mahmoud said.

"I doubt many Muslims would be seriously offended by piggy banks."

Ridiculous. Just goes to show how afraid everyone is of Islam, banning everything and everything that has to do with pigs in case someone might be offended by it..

Hmmm... If something as completely absurd as this could happen, what's next? :icon1:

[irrelevant rambling] I smell a pork-free, Jewish driven lawsuit brewing, on the grounds of 'preferential treatment' toward Muslims who are, coincidentally, not the only anti-swiner's the world has ever known... I guess it would simply be a case of the lesser of two evils: satiating The Chosen People or bowing down for the sucide bombing fundamentalist, extremists? Oh, man... tough choice. :D [/irrelevant rambling]

Assuming Jewish and Muslim conspiracy theories are true, this proves how utterly backwards, mentally indigent and wholly inept the Muslim community is. The group which allegedly controls everything doesn't bat an eye about piggy banks or cartoons--and they are, accordingly, succeeding. The ones who supposedly want to invade and take over are concerning themselves with the most insignificant aspects of culture and society, and succeeding only at making themselves look foolish.

For some reason, I just don't find them very scary anymore.

The sad thing is, muslims don't come up with most of this crap, it's the white traitors who do that.

Well, I am going to immerse myself in swine imagery from now on. My Anglo-Saxon ancestors held the boar to be sacred and a symbol of courage. I'm going to get some t shirts made with pictures like these on them.

Found some more outstanding images on the net.

I especially like the ones where the boar is sticking out his tongue.;)

Reminds me of the last election campaign, when New Labour produced the "pigs might fly" posters of Howard and Letwin (both Jewish).

I find the Islamic notions of male superiority, monotheism and being, well, generally grubby of appearance, quite offensive.
But I guess I'd be wasting my time writing to my MP.

I remember an old Dave Allen anecdote, in which he explained that if he opened his bedroom curtains and happened to see his female next door neighbour sunbathing nude in her garden, he'd be arrested for being a peeping tom.
But if the woman opened her curtains and happened to see him sunbathing nude, he'd be arrested for public exposure!

For me, that sums up English multiculti society today.
We will never be right, and "they" will never be wrong.

IF the muslims don't want the piggy banks they don't have to get them!

What will be coming next. The banning of alcohol during the "Ramadan" month, because the 2% of the British pop. that are Muslim deem it right so ?!

I have actually found out this case is completely fabricated this is my source

"Australia's ABC Media Watch contacted the banks in question. The whole story is a lie. No withdrawal of piggy banks has occured and the whole idea that it had something to do with Muslims is complete and total nonsense. One of the banks' media spokepeople referred to it as 'a silly season story'.

It's completely basesless. So take a cold shower people.

So the article which directly quotes a local muslims leader, and was carried on every major news outlet in the west, is false? I read from a source - also in London - that they in fact didn't ban them, but withdrew them; Halifax and NatWest banks will simply be withdrawing their piggy bank plans, not seeking to ban anything.

Was this story also false? http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2005450600,00.html

I have actually found out
this case is completely fabricated...
A series of false stories,
popularised by BNP leaflets that are put out during election campaigns,
has exacerbated the racial twist to these issues (http://www.irr.org.uk/2005/october/ak000035.html).
