Archbishop attacks extreme atheists
By Lewis Smith

THE former Archbishop of Canterbury hit out yesterday at extreme atheists who are intolerant of religious views and attempt to deny Christians a voice in public debate.

Lord Carey of Clifton told an audience at the festival that such fundamentalist atheists are threatening the fabric of society. He defended religious philosophies as being among the “great foundations of what we call social capital”, which act as the “glue that hold the fabric of society together”. Any attempt to get rid of them will damage society, he said.

Lord Carey singled out Richard Dawkins, Professor for the Public Understanding of Science at Oxford University, for particular criticism. He accused Professor Dawkins, who has branded religious thought “incoherent and irrational”, of an intolerance that could be compared to the intolerance of Churches in past centuries.

He better start getting used to it. In a few years it won't be atheists stopping him, it'll be the Muslims.
The hypocrisy of the C.o.E. knows no bounds. An institution that is firmly behind multi-culturalism and gay marriage yet has the cheek to bemoan social decay.

An institution which allows its schools to be filled with Muslim pupils and stands by watching as other faith schools cater exclusively for their own kind.

Let's not forget that it was Carey who was prepared to cast doubt upon the virgin birth, in the tradition of leading Christian intellectuals, who have all but told the public that the whole thing is made up anyway.

I personally don't give a damn what happens to any of them. They are part of the reason we are in the mess we find ourselves. They get what they deserve. Good riddance.
