In 1999, debt service payments from Africa, the poorest region in the world, to rich Western countries totalled $35.7 billion. Total African debt stands at a crippling $300 billion. According to The Guardian (U.K.), "African leaders invited to the G-8 gathering in Kananaskis expressed deep disappointment that the plan did nothing to open Western markets, cancel debts of the poorest countries, or provide the financial aid needed to meet the UN's targets for tackling global poverty by 2015."

Behind the shameful peanut-throwing lurks a deadly Western policy towards Africa. The U.S. government, which dominates the G-8, has--through the Pentagon, the CIA, the World Bank and the IMF--systematically demolished African economies, health and education sectors, and fuelled 11 wars on the continent with arms transfers and military training.

This imperial strategy has killed more than four million Africans and allowed the U.S. and the West to grab Africa's abundant natural riches cheaply. Nearly 80% of the strategic minerals the U.S. requires are found in Africa, including 90% of the world's cobalt, 90% of the platinum, 40% of the gold, 98% of the chromium, 64% of the manganese, and one-third of the uranium. These minerals are needed to make jet engines, cars, missiles, electronic components, iron and steel.

They've shown incompetence by their inability to create their own solutions. Although, if the creation of stable African democracies limits, or reverses immigration trends from those areas, they may be in our best interests.

It's a shame that they cannot prosper. I think if they could it would alleviate a lot of financial strain from white countries and also decrease immigration. I see little if any aid coming from wealthy Asian countries, so this is a Western problem.

The aid sent to Africa so far has been only a temporary relief and has shown no overall improvement, in fact many conditions are now worse, even after more than 300 billion has been spent. Many Africans say change must come from within, because their society is still oppressive, dominated by thugs, warlords, and dictators. Nothing will change until their nature changes, and unfortunately I don't see that happening. Negroids cannot create a European-style civilization... and if we impose it on them we would have to control it or it would fall into ruin, as South Africa proves.

Eldritch, I believe there is a degree of truth to that article. Some of the largest Capitalist powers do engage in practises using the IMF, World Bank, Multinationals etc. to deliberately scam money off the third world and lock them into massive debt repayment plans.

It is the macro version of banks and corporates like GE Capital who shower us with credit cards and easy money, hoping to get us into as much debt to them as possible. Once we're roped in, they have their little hamster on the treadmill.

Here's an interesting book written by a gentleman who knows more about these things than most:

Of course the flipside of the argument is that it takes two to tango, and the average African leader is only too willing to sell out his country and people in order to enrich himself. The big Capitalist players understand this and exploit it.

Not too long ago, Russia was faced with a similar situation whereby the country became virtually bankrupted through the actions of the "Harvard Boys", "Russian" (mostly Jewish) oligarchs, corrupt Russian Government officials, the Russian mafia and an assortment of foreign multinationals, banks and whatnots who conspired to rob as much as they could lay their hands on.

Only once Yeltsin was put out to pasture and Putin took over did things start to improve again. This was a good example of how to fight back and save one's country from being plundered empty and being turned into a useless banana homeland.

SPIEGEL INTERVIEW WITH AFRICAN ECONOMICS EXPERT

"For God's Sake, Please Stop the Aid!"

"Shikwati: If they really want to fight poverty, they should completely halt development aid and give Africa the opportunity to ensure its own survival. Currently, Africa is like a child that immediately cries for its babysitter when something goes wrong. Africa should stand on its own two feet."
