The first two installments in the series were, imo, the best comic book films ever made. Well, looks like that is about to change. The director of X3 will be Brett Ratner (http://www.ropeofsilicon.com/director.php?id=440), known for such masterpieces as "Rush Hour" and "The Family Man".

As hinted at in the end of X2, the story of X3 will be based on the Dark Phoenix character. New characters will apparently include Beast and Gambit.

Hmmm.. I never much liked the Dark Pheonix storyline... Back in the day it seemed that rather than invent good characters the writers would rather invented these god-like mutants that could destroy entire planets and solar systems merely by looking at them...

I hope they manage to down-play it suitably for the screen at least.

"The script sucks", says our man on the inside -- it's a rehashing of the first two films. I knew something was wrong when Singer left the project for good. This time there is some serum that is supposed to "devolve" mutants back into ordinary homo sapiens shmucks -- and mutants undergo the treatment voluntarily ??! Give me a break.

I hate the idea of Storm becoming the main character over Wolverine, almost as much as I hate the idea of an affair between Wolvie and Storm. Halle Berry is a pitiful actress, she doesn't understand the X-Men, and according to industry gossip she hates the whole series.

On the positive side, the characters of Beast and Angel seem to well handled. And even Juggernaut's character is badly done (as the writer says) it'll still be great to see the character.

Gambit and Cannonball are also supposed to be included, but they don't seem to have much to do. That's a problem, because in two movies, there have been as many good Brotherhood mutants. How is it possible NOT to come up with some good baddie characters with this kind source material?

X4 is in the works, too, but sans Xavier, Magneto, Mystique and possibly Wolverine as well. I'm not sure what to make of that.

Oh, and Cyclops buys it in X3. Just wanted to spoil that for you, being the mean person I am.

I personally cannot stand marvel.
i read one magasine once.. supposedly some jubileum whatever.. none the less the unviverse was destroyed and remade abot five times during that one story.

Nor was that fiorst movie any better.. bored with it so fast i never saw the end. No intention to see nr 2 or later.

Thanks, guess Wolvie will be El Staro Magnifico in this one as well then. :book2:
