THE HALLOW OF THE GIVING OF THE LORD'S MEAL,
OR HOLY TOKEN

OUR Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, in earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our misdeeds, As we forgive them that misdo against us. And lead us not into costening; But aloose us from evil. So be it.

THE GATHERING.

ALMIGHTY God, unto whom all hearts be open, all wills known, and from whom no things are hid; Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inbreathing of thy Holy Ghost, that we may fully love thee, and worthily lift up thy holy Name; through Christ our Lord. So be it.

GIVER

Our Lord Jesus Christ said: Hear, O Israel, The Lord our God is One Lord: Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, with all thy mind, and with all thy strength. This is the first bebode, And the other is like, namely this: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other bebode greater than these. On these two bebodes hang all the law and the foreseers.

Answer Lord have lith upon us, and inbend our hearts to keep this law.

I BELIEVE in one God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And of all things seen and unseen:
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, Begotten of his Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, true God of true God, Begotten, not made, Being of one stuff with the Father, By whom all things were made: Who for us men, and for our redding came down from heaven, And became flesh by the Holy Ghost of the maiden Mary, And was made man, And was hung to death also for us under Pontius Pilate. He was hurt and was buried, And the third day he rose again as told in the Holy Writ, And arose into heaven, And sitteth on the right hand of the Father. And he shall come again with woulder to deem both the quick and the dead: Whose kingdom shall have no end.

And I believe in the Holy Ghost, The Lord and giver of life, Who goeth forth from the Father and the Son, Who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and bewouldered, Who spake by the Seers. And I believe one worldwide and outsent Church. I acknowledge one Drenching for the doing away with sins. And I look for the rising again of the dead, And the life of the world to come. So be it.

Here comes the Couthings and the Speech.

Then shall the Godsman go back to the Lord’s Board, and begin the Giving Up, saying one or more of the Words following, as he thinketh most meet in his choosing.

LET your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and bewoulder your Father which is in heaven. St. Matt. v.

And when there is a Gathering, the Godsman shall then set upon the Board so much Bread and Wine, as he shall think enough

After which done, the Godsman shall say,
Let us bid for the whole standing of Christ's Body warllike here in earth.

ALMIGHTY and everliving God, who by thy holy Errand hast taught us to make beads, and behests, and to give thanks, for all men; We lowly beseech thee most lissfully to take our gifts and geatings out, and to take these our beads which we give unto thy Godly Greatness; Beseeching thee to inbreathe always the worldwide Church with the mind of truth, oneness, and thaveship: And do, that all they that do kithe thy holy Name may thave in the truth of thy holy Word, and live, in unity, and godly love. We beseech thee also to red and beshield all Christly Kings, Firsts, and Handlers; and mostly thy thrall ------ our ------; that under him/her we may be godly and stilly handled:
And give unto her whole Rede, and to all that are put in might under her, that they may truly and evenly deal righthood, to the wracking of wickedness and sin, and to the keeping of thy true belief, and goodness. Give liss, O heavenly Father, to all Overseers and Caregivers, that they may both by their life and teaching set forth thy true and lively Word, and rightly and owedly deal thy holy Hallowdoms: And to all thy folk give thy heavenly liss; and mostly to this gathering which is here; that, with meek heart and owed dread, they may hear, and take thy holy Word ; truly thewing thee in holiness and rightwiseness all the days of their life. And we most lowlily beseech thee of thy goodness, O Lord, to ease and help all them, who in this bygoing life are in pining, sorrow, need, sickness, or any other hardship. And we also bless thy holy Name for all thy thralls gone forth from this life in thy belief and dread; beseeching thee to give us liss so to follow their good bisen, that with them we may be dealtakers of thy heavenly kingdom: Give this, O Father, for Jesus Christ’s sake, our only Middler and Lawhelp. So be it

Then shall the Godsman say to them that come to take the Holy Token

YE that do truly and earnestly bemourn you of your sins, and are in love and cheer with your neighbours, and mean to lead a new life, following the bebodes of God, and walking from henceforth in his holy ways; Draw near with fastness, and take this holy Hallowdom to your ease; and make your lowly kithing to Almighty God, meekly kneeling upon your knees.

Then shall this allfolkly Kithing be made in the name of all those that are minded to take the Holy Token, by one of the Thanes; both he and all the people kneeling lowlily upon their knees, and saying,

ALMIGHTY God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Maker of all things, Deemer of all men; We acknowledge and bewail our manifold sins and wickedness, Which we, from time to time, most hurtfully have done, By thought, word, and deed, Against thy Godly Greatness, Earning most rightly thy wrath and bileness against us. We do earnestly bemourn, And are heartily sorry for these our misdoings; The minding again of them is hurtful unto us; The burden of them is unbearable. Have liss upon us, Have liss upon us, most lissful Father; For thy Son our Lord Jesus Christ's sake, Forgive us all that is before; And give that we may ever hereafter Thew and bliss thee In newness of life, To the haught and woulder of thy Name; Through Jesus Christ our Lord. So be it.

Then shall the Godsman (or Overseer, being to), stand up, and churring himself to the folk, speak this cleansing.

ALMIGHTY God, our heavenly Father, who of his great liss hath behot forgiveness of sins to all them that with hearty bemourning and true fastness chur unto him; Have liss upon you; forgive and free you from all your sins; harden and strengthen you in all goodness and bring you to everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Then shall the Godsman say,

Hear what easeful words our Redder Christ saith unto all that truly chur to him.

Come unto me all that ache and are heavy-laden, and I will freshen you. Hl. Matt. xi.28.

So God loved the world, that he gave his only-begotten Son, to the end that all that believe in him should not die off, but have everlasting life. Hl. John iii. 16.

Hear also what Hallow Paul saith.
This is a true saying, and worthy of all men to be taken, That Christ Jesus came into the world to red sinners I Tim. i. 15.

Hear also what Hallow John saith.
If any man sin, we have a Lawhelp with the Father, Jesus Christ the rightwise; and he is the blood-fee for our sins.I St. John ii. I

After which the godsman shall go on, saying

Priest. Lift up your hearts.
Answer. We lift them up unto the Lord.

Priest. Let us give thanks unto our Lord God.
Answer. It is meet and right so to do.

Then shall the Godsman chur to the Lord's Board, and say,

It is wholly meet, right, and our bounden owing, that we should at all times, and in all steads, give thanks unto thee, O Lord, Holy Father [These words, Holy Father must be left out on Threeness Sunday] Almighty, Everlasting God.

Here shall follow the Selfly Foreword, after the time, if there be any sunderly chosen; or else right after shall follow

Therefore with Errands and High-Errands, and with all the horde of heaven, we worship and lift up thy wonderful Name; evermore raise thee, and saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of heres, heaven and earth are full of thy wonder: Greatness be to thee, O Lord most High. Amen.

Then shall the Godsman, kneeling down at the Lord’s Board, say in the name of all them that shall take the Token this Bead following

WE do not forethink to come to this thy Board, O lissful Lord, trusting in our own rightwiseness, but in thy manifold and great lisses. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under thy Board. But thou art the same Lord, whose way is always to have liss: Give us therefore, lissful Lord, so to eat the flesh of thy dear Son Jesus Christ, and to drink his blood, that our sinful bodies may be made clean by his body, and our souls washed through his most liefful blood, and that we may evermore dwell in him, and he in us. Amen.

When the Godsman, standing before the Board, hath so forebrought the Bread and Wine, that he may with the more readiness and goodness break the Bread before the folk, and take the Vat into his hands, he shall say the Bead of Hallowing, as followeth.

ALMIGHTY God, our heavenly Father, who of thy mild liss didst give thine only Son Jesus Christ to bear death upon the rood for our buying back; who made there (by his one outgeating of himself once given) a full, hale, and meet bloodgift, outgeating, and blissing, for the sins of the whole world; and did set up, and in his holy Gospel bebid us to keep, an endless minding of that his liefful death, until his coming again; Hear us, O lissful Father, we most lowlily beseech thee; and give that we taking these thy makings of bread and wine, according to thy Son our Redder Jesus Christ's holy setting up, in minding of his death and tholing ache, may be dealtakers of his most blessed Body and Blood: who, in the same night that he was lewn, took bread; and, when he had given thanks, he brake it, and gave it to his learners, saying, Take, eat, this is my Body which is given for you: Do this in minding of me. Likewise after meal he took the Vat; and, when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of this; for this is my Blood of the New Oath, which is shed for you and for many for the doing away with sins: Do this, as oft as ye shall drink it, in minding of me. So be it.

Then shall the Thane first take the Token in both kinds himself, and then go forth to give the same to the Overseers, Godsmen, and Helpers, in like wise, (if any be to,) and after that to the folk also as followeth, into their hands, all meekly kneeling. And when he giveth the Bread to any one, he shall say,

THE Body of our Lord Jesus Christ, which was given for thee, keep thy body and soul unto everlasting life. Take and eat this in minding that Christ died for thee, and feed on him in thy heart by belief with thanksgiving.

And the Thane that giveth the Vat to any one shall say,

THE Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, which was shed for thee, keep thy body and soul unto everlasting life. Drink this in minding that Christ's Blood was shed for thee, and be thankful.

When all have been dealt, the Thane shall go back to the Lord's Board, and holily lay upon it what leaveth of the hallowed Deals, hulling the same with a fair linen cloth,

Then shall the Godsman say the Lord's Prayer, the folk saying again after him every Bead,

OUR Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, in earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our misdeeds, As we forgive them that misdo against us. And lead us not into costening; But aloose us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, The might, and the woulder, For ever and ever. So be it.

After shall be said as followeth.

O LORD and heavenly Father, we thy lowly thralls wholly will thy fatherly goodness lissfully to take gladly this our gift of worship and thanksgiving; most lowlily beseeching thee to give, that by the goodness and death of thy Son Jesus Christ, and through belief in his blood, we and all thy whole Body may get the doing away of our sins, and all other good outcomes of his tholing. And here we raise and give unto thee, O Lord, ourselves, our souls and bodies, to be a mindful, holy, and lively sacrifice unto thee; lowlily beseeching thee, that all we, who are dealtakers of this holy Token, may be fulfilled with thy liss and heavenly blessing. And although we be unworthy, through our manifold sins, to raise unto thee any good gift, yet we beseech thee to take this our bounden owing and thaneship; not weighing our goodness, but forgiving our misdeeds, through Jesus Christ our Lord; by whom, and with whom, in the oneness of the Holy Ghost, all good name and woulder be unto thee, O Father Almighty, world without end. So be it.

Then shall be said or sung

GLORY be to God on high, and in earth fred, good will towards men. We love thee, we bless thee, we worship thee, we lift thee up, we give thanks to thee for thy great woulder, O Lord God, heavenly King, God the Father Almighty. O Lord, the only-begotten Son Jesus Christ; O Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, that takest away the sins of the world, have liss upon us. Thou that takest away the sins of the world, have liss upon us. Thou that takest away the sins of the world, hear our bead. Thou that sittest at the right hand of God the Father, have liss upon us. For thou only art holy; thou only art the Lord; thou only, O Christ, with the Holy Ghost, art most high in the woulder of God the Father. So be it.

Then the Godsman (or Overseer if he be to) shall let them go out with this blessing.

THE fred of God which overgoeth all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in the knowledge and love of God, and of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord: and the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, be amongst you and bide with you always. So be it.

P: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost.
C: So be it.

P: If we say that we have no sin, we fool ourselves and the truth is not in us.
C: But if we own up our sins, God, who is abiding and right, will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrightwiseness.

P: Let us then acknowledge our sins to God our Father.
C: Most lissful God, we acknowledge that we are by birth sinful and unclean. We have sinned against you in thought, word and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We rightly should have your now and forever. For the sake of your son, Jesus Christ, have liss on us. Forgive us, make us new and lead us, so that we may be glad in your will and walk in your ways to the brightness of your holy name. So be it.

P: Almighty God in his liss has given his son to die for you and for his sake
forgives you all your sins. As a called and hooded thane of Christ I thereforeforgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost.

In the same way also He took the bowl after supper and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them saying: Drink of it, all of you; this bowl is the new witness in My blood, which is shed for you for the forgiveness of sins. This do, as often as you drink it, in the minding of Me."

C: So be it. Come, Lord Jesus.

P: O Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father, in giving us your body and blood to eat and to drink, you lead us to bear us in mind and call true your holy rood and woe-bearing, your blessed death, your while in the grave, your rising again from the dead, and your coming for the last doom.
