I like the last comparison the best, the Neanderthal-sapiens comparison. Neanderthals lived for thousands of years in glacial Europe. They hunted big game and delt with the climate at its worst. Sapiens, on the other hand, came only during an interstadial and may have never hunted big game in the same intensity as Neanderthal did. Look at the head size and brain size comparisons. These people died out but it was not inability which killed them. It could have been differential breeding patters favoring sapiens or disease but it wasn't "fitness" as most non-scientists think of fitness.
