I guess basically the forms of music I like are: Classical music, traditional European folk music(Celtic and Slavic being my favorite styles), traditional Church music(both Catholic Gregorian and Orthodox chants), medieval/renaisance recreations, classic rock, lounge music(think Frank Sinatra).

I also especially like military marches. There are some Whermacht/Waffen-SS songs I like, but overall I prefer Russian marches(even though they have a Communist theme to them, but there are many old Cossack songs I've heard).

Some of my favorite bands:
Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus (http://www.bandura.org/) a nice Ukrainian-American folk band

Old Blind Dogs (http://www.oldblinddogs.co.uk/) good Celtic band from Scotland

Red Army Choir, although many of their songs are Communist themed they're still good! :)

Don Cossack Choir, pretty good at singing traditional(pre-Communist) marches and folk songs.

The Balitmore Consort, I usually like there renditions of Medieval/Renaisance music

The New World Renaissance Band, again I like their renditions of traditional European music(their head singer Owain Phyfe is nice).

Creedence Clearwater Revival

And so on.

As far as Classical music is concerned, my favorite composers are: Bach, Handel, Haydyn, Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Mussogorsky, and some of Borodin. I usually have a preference for music from the Baroque and Neo-Classical periods.

I too tend to listen to more classical music than people of my age normally do.
I usually buy older music, I never buy a CD I´ve never listened to before.
I don´t stick to one genre, I listen to music that gives me a good feeling, some of seems very bizarre to my friends.

In my small collection, I have music by Portishead, Massive Attack, Bjørk, Sting, The Cardigans, Frank Sinatra, Enya, Norah Jones, Bertine Zetlitz (norwegian), Gåte (norwegian traditional/pop), Seal, Supertramp, Kate Bush.
Not very hardcore. :rotfl:

I like Enya as well, but I think Moya Brennan (her sister) is even better. A little more of the Celtic sound and a little less of the 'new age'.

I had the pleasure to see Moya live, and she is amazing. Her band deserves most of the credit though.

It seems you don’t like Swedish bands. Maybe it’s a language thing? If so, try to get your hand on Svastika’s “Hang Him High” or Ultima Thule’s version of “When Johnny Comes Marching Home”.

As you may know, Paul Burnley is a very controversial figure. Some of the people I work closely with would probably consider it treason to listen to his new band, so I haven’t heard it. But between you and me and the rest of this here community I consider him a fine musician.

The accusations against Burnley consist mostly of skimming money. At least that’s what people around here claim. I don’t know much about the case but some serious people seem to feel quite strongly about Burnley and, since I have no real stake in the matter, I prefer to respect their feelings.

That's Varg Vikernes, alias Count Grishnackh. He is the man behind Burzum, currectly serving a 21-year sentence in Norway for killing a communist fagot and burning a few churches.

I got it from here: www.burzum.org, click English, and Gallery and Old Burzum.

None taken. Terrible from what standpoint? I see that you predominantly like classical music, which is some indication. These bands are very 'white', so to speak, and have no traces of the disgusting niggeresque themes that are so prevalent today.

The bands I called "terrible" would be classified as rock, which is a genre that draws excessively from non-white musical forms such as Jazz. Not to mention that none of them could tell you what tonality was if you handed them a book on music theory and gave them a day to respond.

I am obviously exaggerating; my point is that, on a technical-aesthetic level, such mainstream bands are garbage. Their popularity stems from the fact that the average consumer cannot differentiate between good and bad music and therefore listens to whatever has an interesting riff (or "beat") or appealing vocals or lyrics.

Oh, I don't know about that. I think Amy Lee has a really good voice, and her music has a fairly sad, lilting quality to it which I find very appealing. But, for the most part, I do agree with you if that statement is applied to the average popular band.

@Skildur: I can see that comment applying to Linkin Park (especially since they just made an album with Jay-Z), but Evanescence?

Any band that has "rap" wrappings in its music is automaticaly becomes "a negative experience" for my ears, no matter how good vocals are. As far as I've heard Evanesense has such wrappings.
As to the Linkin park - half of the members of this band are mongoloid.

The bands I called "terrible" would be classified as rock, which is a genre that draws excessively from non-white musical forms such as Jazz.

Jazz as a genre is not non-white. The work of Frank Sinatra is certainly white. So too is the piano work of Claude Bolling to name another.

Celtic, Slavic and Scandinavian folk music, classic music (Tchaykovsky, Wagner etc etc), Sympho metal (like Therion and old Nightwish), gothic metal sometimes (Tiamat, Tristania or Theatre of Tragedy (old TOT;)), doom (My Dying Bride)... Dead Can Dance, Enya, Enigma, Ashram, Varvara... cannot remember all names right now :viking3:

Although Jazz, at its so-called origins in New Orleans, is linked to the Black Créole culture we also have to take into consideration the WHITE elements which helped define it as a genre in music. Ie: blues (from big band), minstrel and brass band music among others of course. It is a genre of music associated with Black subculture, however to a large extent musically derived from various form of "White music". I am not "defending" the genre out of any great love for it. In fact I can't quite stand the music myself. But I wouldn't go as far as to ignore it origins and the general populace's misunderstanding of the genre.

I think that most rock "music" was inspired by the negro element of Jazz, directly or indirectly. Regardless, even White Jazz is a degenerate form of music.

Well, good, but there's no controversy over the degeneracy of these specific bands. ;) Not that there's anything wrong with that!Yes, I know.

I think that's mainly out of jealousy, though.

I had the fortune of meeting them in person (DIJ and Der Blutharsch) in 1998 and they seemed just fine -I didn't see any signs of degeneracy whatsoever.
Actually, most of them are straight-edge..no meat, alcohol, smoke, and so on, which is a sign of excellent conduct for me.

As for the rumors of sexual orientation, I am in no position to speak about that, but I didn't see any signs of that either.

I had a long correspondence with Albin (DB) for quite some years, and I think very highly of him. :animal-sm

Anyway, it's firstly and mostly their music that I like so much, and I don't bother about the rumours much since they are none of my concern. ;)

If you're interested in neotraditional music like this as well as quality recordings of classical music then you will definitely be interested in the Neoclassical Music Hub at: http://tinyurl.com/olae
It uses DC++ as its client and it shouldn't take you long to get connected. btw, although it doesn't have any "rules" it does have a liberal banning policy so you'll want to read the FAQ before you join.

:rotfl:

@Jonas; Sorten Muld is great!

I mostly listen to classical music. This is in my opinion truly White music, since no other races have yet been able to imitate the skills of Wagner, Beethoven and Brahms. Jewish composers like Mendelsohn-Bartholdy and Carl Orff come close, but they don't really hit the "nerve" in their music. (I must admit though that i am very fond of "Carmina Burana".)

I am also into easy listening, where I specially admire beautiful female voices. Sissel Kyrkjebjø and Carpenters are great, and I also like Patsy Cline.

When I have friends over for a beer and some partying, the concept is more like Stahlgewitter, Pluton Svea, Landser, Saga, Skrewdriver and so on. Also Johnny Rebel is a great sing-along music.

Mendelsohn was Jewish, although he later converted to lutheranism. Better than most composers of his time he understood the techniques of music, and I guess he did a good job composing tehcnically ok symphonies. But music is more than a matter of simple techniques. I guess you need the spirit of a white man to compose truly white music.

Perhaps the quiz hasn't run for long enough for its results to be valid, but I am surprised and delighted by the results so far. If this trend continues throughout the length of time that this quiz remains open, it may give the lie to the doomsayers who have been announcing the imminent demise of classical music. If classical music dies, so does Western culture.

I don't listen to that sort of music, mostly because I find most of such bands rather untalented. As to whether they do good or bad, differs greatly per band, imho. Skrewdriver has racialist lyrics that remain reasonable (at least the songs I've heard), but there are also a few out there I consider downright depraved and harmful. I think Prussian Blue has quite a bit of potential, though their act could use some polishing.

I like Old School Black Metal like Burzum (http://www.burzum.org/), Darkthrone, Immortal (http://immortal.battlegrim.net/), Gorgoroth (http://www.gorgoroth.org/), but also some "modern bands" of this genre like Khold (http://www.khold.com/) och Massemord (not so "modern", but at least produced their first long player in 2003). And I like Ambient, which has developed from BM like Ildjarn (http://www.anus.com/metal/ildjarn.html) and Nest (http://nest.atolonen.cjb.net/). And Viking/Folk Metal from Fejd (http://www.fejd.se/), Korpiklaani (http://www.korpiklaani.com/) and Týr (http://www.tyr.net/).

Furthermore Neofolk and Industrial (Von Thronstahl (http://www.vonthronstahl.de/), Blutharsch (http://www.derblutharsch.com/), Forseti (http://freesys.homeip.net/~stefan/forseti/), Sonne Hagal (http://www.sonnehagal.de/), TDOTTC, Rasthof Dachau, ...) and to be honest also some "classic pop" from A-ha (http://artists.universal-music.de/a-ha/), Eurythmics (http://www.vibber.dk/eurythmistan/) etc. :D (I'm not to blame for being a child of the 80's :P)

Oh good! It's a secret poll so I can vote for rap and no one will know. :D :hush

No, actually I voted for "other" plus some classical and rock. I like other kinds of music like celtic, folk, metal, country, etc.-- but minimally and not on a regular basis so I did not vote for any of those.

My "other" includes things such as easy listening/soft rock, movie theme songs, etc.

I do not listen to any WP at all...... on my own. My husband listens to it and so I hear it because I have ears. I like some. Saga has a nice voice. Skrewdriver is okay. Honor is good-- except maybe a couple songs. Ummm, I can't think of anything else off hand. Most of my husband's music just screams, they have horrible voices, and the lyrics leave something to be desired. :)

Favorite rockabilly band is Youngland. Non-racialist music I listen to includes bands like Black Label Society, Smashing Pumpkins, Metal Church, etc. I like a lot of black metal too like Illnath (Denmark), Legionz ov Hell (symphonic black/grind from Bergen, Norway), Darkthrone, etc. I just like all kinds of music. You can even catch me listening to country on the right day. ;) :thumbup

And oh, do you listen to this White Power or Resistance music? What do you think about it? Is it doing good or harm?

Fascinating questions! Before I offer my response, I'll mention that I chose "other" (among other options), and that my "other" would probably have to get classified as devotional music — Christian hymns and songs of various kinds and quality. In fact, as I type, I am being treated to Godiva's excellently-trained and beautiful voice ringing out with devotional songs for children. We frequently sing such music in our home, as well as play it on the guitar, banjo, or harmonica, and we sing/hear it in church every Sunday as well. Currently she is singing the Crusader's Hymn, an old 12th-century Silesian folk song — I love it!

Styles that I consider very Germanic? Folk music from our own folk is of course tautologically Germanic, so that's on the list.

It also seems to me that classical music was primarily developed by, and definitely has always found its greatest expression through, Germanic composers and musicians, so I would list classical music as essentially Germanic. Furthermore, it seems particularly well-suited to the expression of Germanic spirituality and our folk religion — and to be honest, I can't really picture something like Greco-Roman or Celtic folk religion (and definitely no non-European folk religion) finding a voice through classical music. Slavic folk religion can pull it off, but I always sense that the music is a little too big for that theme, that the theme doesn't use most of the power of the musical form. Germanic folk religion finds a full expression in classical music and also fills out the breadth and depth of the form. This makes me feel that it is in its core a Germanic form of music.

I think of country (real country, not the music of these posers who really want to sing pop but don't quite have the look) as a development from Germanic folk music, so it seems to me to be a Germanic musical form.

I also see hard rock as a Germanic musical form, but it has some very unGermanic roots. It's part of the Jazz-Blues-R&B-Rock'n'Roll-Hard Rock continuum, so it has some definite elements extending back into Negro music, but I think it's a fairly successful translation of that type of music into a more Germanic manner of expression. It is also interesting to note the many similarities or links between hard rock and classical: Eddie Van Halen holding the title of world's best guitarist, a title normally held by classical guitarists; Metallica performing classical music; &c.

Regarding WP music, I think most of it (from what I've heard) needs extreme improvement in quality before I would be comfortable telling anybody that it represents my people. ;)

Other peoples' folk music (including Celtic music) is of course tautologically unGermanic, but I think other forms are, too.

I think a lot of 80s rock/pop/alternative is unGermanic. I often enjoy it, but it never seems to speak to my soul the way classical, Germanic folk, country, or hard rock will (and this is the real reason why I feel the latter forms are Germanic — the rationale I have presented is just to explain the natural feeling — faith-seeking-understanding and all that). That class of 80s music is also more informed by disco than anything and is a concious break from hard rock, and knowing that tends to reinforce my innate sense that it is not Germanic.

I also think that rap is inherently unGermanic, and this for more academic reasons. My older brother was recently asked to volunteer as a dance teacher for kids at his local high school. He's a good dancer, a good teacher, and very concerned about our youth, so he gladly accepted the offer, and began teaching them ballroom dance (a very Germanic art form). Some of the kids started asking him whether they could dance to any kind of music, and he quickly told them (like any good ballroom dancer would) that ballroom dance can be performed to any kind of music ever produced. So the kids brought out some rap music (the kind that they listened to) and asked him to show them how to do it. They played the music and he stood a moment to feel the rhythm — and soon discovered that the rhythm was quite erratic, and was at times even absent. This shocked him, and he asked to hear more songs and more artists. Almost all the rap they brought forth lacked any underlying rhythm. To me, that seems to be completely alien to the Germanic spirit. I have heard things about Black Africans and their outlook on futurity that make me see how arhythmic music could be a good expression of certain African peoples' souls, but rhythmicity is so much a part of our Volkgeist in so many ways, that I can't see any arhythmic music as being at all Germanic. In fact, I would be inclined to see it as potentially seriously detrimental to our souls.

I voted for Classical as my main choice. My favourite artists are Richard Wagner, Edward Elgar, and Gustav Holst. All three are excellent composers, although my favourite has to be Wagner. Wagner's music displays a wealth of emotions and feelings that I've never felt before.

What's your favorite style anyway? What are your favorite artists?
Current top five in top three categorie:

Classical
Wagner
R Strauss
Pfitzner

Holmboe

Pop/Alternative
Tori Amos
Suzanne Vega
Garbage
Kate Bush
Berlin

Electronica
Lamb
Smoke City

Also really like the music of Frank Rennicke, especially the lyrics.

Well, I get the most nationalist Germanic feelings from Rennicke and Wagner.

And oh, do you listen to this White Power or Resistance music? What do you think about it? Is it doing good or harm?
Aside from some on and off tutoring from Nordraserei, I haven't heard much and thus don't have a well formed opinion about it. But I do observe that it doesn't have much appeal beyond white nationalist circles - the hate lyrics are a bit of a cultural nonstarter, as are the lack of "normal" production values. Even Prussian Blue is mocked more as a weird anomaly than taken seriously as music.

And oh, do you listen to this White Power or Resistance music? What do you think about it? Is it doing good or harm?

It was never my kind of thing though I picked up some of this music through the force of habit by listening to it from my friends.

Some bands are good, some average and some hideous..

The point is, that, while it is claimed that this kind of music may "recruit" youngsters to racialism, I have come, from empirical evidence, to have concerns on whether it is actually for or against the benefit of racialism.

More specifically, I have seen quite a number of teenagers drawn to this music and all of the sudden becoming WP skinheads, but they never bother to educate themselves or form an ideological background. They stick to repeating what the lyrics say, frequently getting themselves into trouble for engaging into "hate crimes", and hence becoming blind propaganda victims, on the opposite side of the "multi-racial" propaganda victims.

I don't think that's what we want either. :|

Not to say that this holds true for everyone, I am merely speaking on the account of a phenomenon I have observed in a portion of the fans of this music.

On the bright side, these people do not usually last as "WP activists" for more than one year, and they move on towards some other popular culture.

The ones that get more interested usually educate themselves upon racialist matters and evolve into more constructive forms. ;)

For the most part I listen to metal, mostly traditional (maiden, priest, manowar, etc), black (burzum, falkenbach, etc), and folk (ensiferum, forefather, etc). That being said I love old rockabilly, classic rock (zeppelin's probably my favourite band). I also have a soft spot for celtic folk music. As far as RAC music goes I really have no problem with it. Musically it's not very good, and there's something delightfully ironic about a bunch of white trash racists promoting music that has its roots in rock 'n' roll which of course has its roots in blues/r&b/jazz etc (i.e 'black' music), but hey, whatever floats your boat. Music is music - and if it's good - be it rap, reggae, blues, folk, metal whatever - it's good and deserves a listen.

Ha Chopin is great, although it must be considered un-Germanic music by some.

Maybe because Jazz is a music mostly played by negroes and appreciated by Jews. Isn't Jazz considered entartete musik afterall?
Jazz is the greatest and perhaps the only great cultural achievement of the groid race; young groids today have almost no interest in jazz. There may well be more interest in it in Europe now than in USrael. Jews are indeed great music lovers; as you know, they dominate the classical music scene, but I’m not aware that they have a similar interest today in jazz. Chopin’s music is great; great music is universal and therefore not un-Germanic. Wasn’t it Schumann who said when he heard Chopin play his music: “Hats off, Gentlemen, a genius!”?
By the standards of European-Christian art, jazz is entartete music; it was banned from the Third Reich, and rightly so, in my opinion: it would not have done the soldiers at the front any good to learn that the enemy was producing a great new kind of music. But is jazz “entartete” in general? Perhaps, for it is not Christian. It and other forms of “black” music (R&B, Rock&Roll, etc.) have been produced by blacks under the influence of Christianity, but they are not essentially Christian: they are Christian only in the sense that they are anti-Christian and therefore could not have been produced without Christianity. They are the black reaction to white-developed Christianity. I think that is the reason why jazz and R&R became so popular in Europe. After the war Europeans had come to question the Christian myth, and, in hearing jazz and later R&R, Europeans thought they were being liberated from the restraints of outmoded Christianity: they were, but not necessarily for their good. Jazz is one of the things which seduced so many whites, especially white women, to race mix after WW2. Any art which encourages race mixing is entartete IMO, and we would be better off without it. But one could make the same argument against Shakespeare’s Othello. Yet Othello is obviously a great play. Jazz, or at least some jazz, is great music. Jazz is in fact much more “white” than is usually thought: it became enormously popular in Europe, but was never the least bit popular in Africa. If you want to hear a good piece of jazz, listen to this: http://www.redhotjazz.com/Songs/Louie/lao/MahoganyHallStomp1933.ram

I listen to a wide variety of music:

Classical - particularly Baroque and early Romantic styles

Slavic folk music - obvious

Celtic music

Medieval/Renaisance

Country/Bluegrass - the only real decent music from America

Cajun - a nice form of folk music first developed by French settlers in Louisana

Lounge - think Frank Sinatra; was popular in the late 40's and 50's

Classic Rock

Military marches - usuaully Red Army or other Slavic marches. That or maybe French military marches.

Gregorian Chant - sacred music of Medieval Europe

Byzantine Chant - sacred music for us Eastern Christians

Bluegrass Gospel - sacred music from the American south, not to be confused with the Black version of Gospel music.

New Age - well it corresponds to some form of folk/sacred music. Much of the real weird stuff I cant stand!

Much like Raven, I'll listen to almost anything decent except for rap/hip-hop/pop music/etc.

Classical Composers I usually like:
Bach
Beethoveen
Mozart
Hadyn
Handel
Tchaikovsky
Mussogorsky
Borodin
Dvorak

Bands/Singers I like:

Clearwater Creedence Revival(possibly the best rock band ever!)
Bob Seger
Alan Jackson
Alabama
Ukrainian Bandurist Choir
Red Army Choir
Frank Sinatra
Dean Martin
Old Blind Dogs
Chieftains
Enya
Van Morrison
Dropkick Murphy's

Although these are only small lists. ;)

I listen to mostly improvisational rock. Stuff from jam bands like the Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers, Dave Matthews and Jerry Garcia Band. Live music by bands such as these make most 'rock bands' studio releases look pale in comparison.

Psychedelic rock is also refreshing to listen to, in terms of its ingenuity, when compared with all manufactured the crap that's released nowadays. The Doors, The Byrds, Country Joe and the Fish, Jefferson Airplane, Cream, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Pink Floyd (but only Syd Barrett Floyd ;)).

Then various other rock bands; Def Leppard, Slayer, Pantera, Thin Lizzy, etc.

I should probably be listening to classical music but it just seems far too advanced for my tastes. Well, for now, at least.

What music genres or styles do you regularly listen to?

What's your favorite style anyway? What are your favorite artists? :)

Are there styles you consider very Germanic or un-Germanic? :P

And oh, do you listen to this White Power or Resistance music? What do you think about it? Is it doing good or harm?

I mainly listen to black metal, folk, classical and celtic.
The bands/artists I like the most are: Final War, Burzum, Darkthrone, Angantyr, Brahms, Wagner, Beethoven, Absurd etc.

I like some White Power music very much, but a huge part of it isn't about the music at all, it's merely untalented musicians who want to spread a message.

The music isn't doing any harm. I don't see how making statements through music can harm anyone. Sure, people can get offended by it, but we live in a world with the freedom of speech! At least up here!

When it comes to the effect on the so-called "youngsters", which I would probably be a part of, I don't see what the problem is. If the "youngsters" didn't have this music to listen to and act after, they'd find something else. Many styles of music are of bad influence on some kids, take rap as an example. We see so many young people who could've had a perfectly functioning future with a good education, ending up in the gutter because it's so cool to be "in da ghetto".. No matter what message the different styles of music may have, it'll always effect some people in a negative way - and those people have been weak from the beginning.

In fact, I think White Power music has a good influence on most people, the "youngsters" too. Young people are the future, so why not open their eyes to how "we" think the society should be? Keeping them in the dark will only mean a mixed Europe, not to mention world, in the future.

I've noticed that some people seem to think that RAC is just badly recorded garbage. This is quite unfair. In fact, its sound quality is just as good as most mainstream punk bands, or else kids wouldn't be attracted by it. They aren't stupid. Bully Boys reminds me of Sum 41, and Skrewdriver is just as good as the Exploiteds or the Misfits. Now you might argue that Sum 41 and the Misfits aren't that good, and I'd have to agree, but my point is that RAC isn't especially crappy music.

And about its potential influence on the kids...seriously, who here thinks Marilyn Manson caused the Columbine shootings? How many suburban kids start selling dope because they heard it's cool in a Jay Z song? Most people are able to listen to something without automatically buying it. I listen to rap sometimes, and my skin hasn't turned black yet.:D The important thing is to analyze the stuff and to have a critical view of it. If it does good or harm is up to you.

I'm old so I like all my 1960s rock music--of everyone who overdosed. Wagner dominates and defines my concept of classical music. Is anyone else really worth hearing? The upbeat Euro Pop stuff like "I'm Blue" is fun. Trance is something I like and have on my computer. I also have Enya's music, love "River". The racist music sounds more like noise to me. My son has downloaded tons of it on my computer. Actually, Ramstein (is that their name?) sounds good in German language but much less strong in English. In German it is almost intimidating like German soldiers singing marching songs. My biggest divergence from the norm is African music. This is modern African music. There are some black groups I like but one Boer anthropologist, Johnny Clegg, is my favorite. He produces Zulu music and his black musicians into something pleasing to western ears.

Clegg is not a gentile, I believe. He only likes Apartheid at home.

Take Johnny Clegg (http://www.johnnyclegg.com/) for instance. This Jewish boy, born in England, grew up with a tapestry of cultures surrounding him. His experiences gave him the balls to challenge governmental acts prohibiting the integration of culture; he spit in the face of apartheid authority, and learned to stick fight, dance and sing like a Zulu man. It was from him that I filched the name of this column, in fact. "Just Another Day in Africa" originated from one of his lyrics, and in many ways that phrase encapsulates the pot-pourri of cultural realities that South Africanisms represent.

You're welcome Herr Dr.; I'd no doubt about your political views. It's always good to name one, even if you and I already knew that. There's always people to get informed around here. :)

But, as a Jew, I think he did the right thing as I am told he married a Zulu girl.

That, I didn't know. Victim of his own propaganda. That's indeed a great thing. At least, it makes him one of the few consequent persons of his community.

I listen most of the time to NSBM and RAC. To a lesser extent normal BM, Death Metal, Thrash, Heavy Metal, and to an even lesser extent Classical, Folk and Ambiant.

Although it's difficult to say because I listen to a lot of stuff, I think Burzum would be my favorite band. Other bands that have influenced me a lot are in no particular order: Carcass, Metallica (old), Wolfnacht, Absurd, Graveland, Stahlgewitter and Bunker 84.

About the "White Power" or "Resistance" music, I think some of it is good, and some of it is less than good...

Myself, I didn't listen to much music at all during my early years (except The Beatles because of my parents), but I as a result of being in marching band, playing piano, etc. I became heavily enamored of classical music. Especially the romantic artists such as Chopin, Beethoven, Wagner, Liszt, Brahms, Schubert etc.

Beethoven's 9th symphony is probably my favorite song. The sheer anger and joy of it is really overwhelming.

Recently, I've been trying to broaden my tastes to include Baroque (Bach), and some early classical artists such as Mozart, Haydn. I also discovered Ralph Vaughan Williams music recently--he wrote a lot of English folk music arrangements (as well as good romantic classical music) in the early 20th century.

I've been trying to get into heavy metal, but I'm not really sure where to start. If anyone has any suggestions please forward them.

I listen to a lot of Neofolk (Forseti, :Of The Wand & The Moon:, Sonne Hagal, Oak:Upon:Runes, Darkwood, Nebelung ect ect) and I do enjoy Classical music (Wagner, Beethoven, Strauss ect ect) and some Genres of Metal (Death, Doom, Thrash, Black). I used to listen to "Viking Metal" quite a bit but over time got tired with all of the Cheesey lyrics and motifs. I will still listen to Bathory (and I probably always will) but some groups I used to love a few years ago I laugh at today. I do enjoy some old Country music, Bluegrass, some Blues and Jazz from time to time. I wake up every morning and listen to Bagpipes and other Keltic folk music while I brush my teeth and get ready for the day. It always gives me a little boost :D

Mostly hard rock or goth rock, such as Tristania. A lot of hard rock is also focused on race, such as music by Darkthrone or Ultima Thule. Celtic, Classical, most alternative styles, electronica and pop also appeal to me.

I think that Goth/hard rock usually has huge amounts of germanic influences, given that it draws from a specific time in Europe and is based on the elements of the gothic period, as well as elements from the rest of Europe. Celtic and classical music are also quite germanic, given the fact that they are mostly the products of germanic cultures. :P I like Qntal when it comes to Celtic mixes or pure Latin. Fantasy/pagan/race based hard rock is some of my favourite. So is germanic folk music.

As for White Power music, most of it sucks. I think it's better to stick to classical music or hard rock/alternative music for such purposes. Prussian Blue is the best example I know of White Power music, and while it's good, it's not my style.

Here are my fave bands:
Tristania (my favourite)
Nightwish
Darkthrone
Apoptygma Berserk
Evanescence
Blind Guardian
Loreena Mc'kennit (not a band ;) )
Streams of Passion
Luca Turilli
Rhapsody
Kamelot
Iced Earth
Sins of thy Beloved
Theatre of Tragedy
Deathstar
Kent
Gothminister
Within Temptation
Inkubus/Sukkubus
Sirenia
Lacuna Coil
Ultima Thule
Kent
Dia Psalma
In Flames
Burzum
Tokio Hotel
Lafee
etc...

Among the classicals:
Mozart
Bethoven
Wagner
Tchaikovsky
Vivaldi
Bach
Salieri (Mozart's rival)
Emma Shapplin (she is contemporary, yet her style is heavily classical)
Vanessa Mae (same as above)
etc...

I can stomach some RnB, mostly stuff by Kellis and Nelly Furtado. Not my type of music though.

I listen to pretty much anything that isn't Reggae, Hip Hop or R&B.

Oh and I can't stand Serbian folk music for some reason.

I'm a big fan of Japanese pop and rock.

These days my musical taste is more centred upon Gustav Holsts musical art, especially to The Planets-thema. It is something I find very appropriate for meditating and winding down after days in work and studies.

Last decade was moreover dedicated to BM and dark ambient (Beherit, Burzum for instance...) and to my lifelong favourite Motörhead. Sometimes I'm keen on some folk or folk-stylish music too, especially Finnish Nostatus (http://nostatus.cjb.net/) among Aryan Goddess(GER) and Tarujen Saari(FIN) which all seem to be quite interesting discoveries.

Because ladybright asked me for the lyrics... Here they are:

Skrewdriver - Road to Valhalla

There is a road, and it leads to Valhalla-Where only the chosen are allowed. There is a boy, with a dream of Valhalla-A place in the land of the gods!

But in the heart, where the fire burns forever-Where life goes on, for those who fell in battle. The gods are waiting, the moment he falls in the fight and he will rise, when the sun goes down!

Raised high his sword, as he cried out "Valhalla!"-His dream had become reality! Tonight he will dine on the road to Valhalla-Chosen to feast with the gods!

But in the heart, where the fires burn forever-Where life goes on, for the mighty young Viking. The journey has finally come to an end, for the boy and he has risen as the bravest of them all!

Skrewdriver - Tomorrow belongs to me

The sun on the meadow is summery warm and the stag in the forest runs free-But gathered together to greet the storm! Tomorrow belongs to me! Tomorrow belongs to me!

The branch on the linden is leafy and green and the Rhine gives it’s gold to the sea but somewhere a glory awaits unseen! Tomorrow belongs to me! Tomorrow belongs to me!

The babe in his cradle is closing his eyes and the blossom embraces the bee! But soon says the whisper, arise, arise! Tomorrow belongs to me! Tomorrow belongs to me!

Now Fatherland, Fatherland, show us the sign-Your children have waited to see! The morning will come when the world is mine! Tomorrow belongs to me! Tomorrow belongs to me!

Agnar - Dein Erbe

Ken & Stigger - Sleep well my brother

Over the sea it calls to me-Yesterday’s gone. I’m all alone. Onward it sails into the sunset. You finally found your place to rest!

Sleep well my brother-Do not be afraid! I can see the valkyrie! Take me with you-Take me so far away! I can see the valkyrie!

Now you’ve joined the ranks of the fallen-Carried away by valhalla’s calling! Now battled by day and feast by night-The glories you’ve seen come into the light!

Sleep well my brother-Do not be afraid! I can see the valkyrie! Take me with you-Take me so far away! I can see the valkyrie!

Now rest with the chosen and rest in peace-I have picked up the standart and I will release! All that you fought for and all that you loved-Watch over me brother and guide from above!

Sleep well my brother-Do not be afraid! I can see the valkyrie!Take me with you-Take me so far away! I can see the valkyrie!

Nemesis - Pride & Purity

My pride it is condemned, by the ones who pull the strings, they say that we are evil, they want to see us swing, but I know in my heart, that what I do ain't wrong, Because we see what others don't, that's why I write these songs.

One day they shall see, that they can't change you or me, Cause we got something that they do not, "PRIDE AND PURITY". One day they shall see that they can't change you or me, Cause we got something they do not, "PRIDE AND PURITY".

Our race is being destroyed, by the puppets of the few, through the T.V. and the papers they try to forge your views, They tell you that we're thhick and all we do is hate, But we shall see if they change their tune, When they're standing at the traitors gate.

One day they shall see, that they can't change you or me, Cause we got something that they do not, "PRIDE AND PURITY". One day they shall see that they can't change you or me, Cause we got something that they do not, "PRIDE AND PURITY".

They want to see us banned, Because we love our Race, But the traitors of my people won't beat us face to face, Cause when I look into their eyes, I can see no guilt, But we shall see who's laughing last when their blood begins to spill.

One day they shall see that they can't change you or me, Cause we got something that they do not, "PRIDE AND PURITY". One day they shall see that they can't change you or me, Cause we got something that they do not, "PRIDE AND PURITY".

Broadsword - The lonely Raven

The ocean she bore me across the swelling tide-To the isles of the mighty, life destiny to find. Now my eyes have seen, what few men see-And few men dare forget me… In earthly days i linger, in eternity I lie.

Hear the lonely raven’s call of love that binds us all. Thunder of the firmament, the chariots of war-These things I do know, wither where they go, these things I can tell to you all.

The mist gathered around us as we watch the coming storm-The earth rolled in thunder, the machinery of war. Men’s hearts failed with every breath, courage it laid dying and warriors were slaughtered, but the harvest of the new young called.

Hear the lonely raven’s call of love that binds us all. Thunder of the firmament, the chariots of war-These things I do know, wither where they go, these things I can tell to you all.

Men gathered in their halls at night-For a hero they prayed. Druids they were called upon ort he spells that they made. Everywhere a king was sort, nowhere could be found-Death was in the air and fear stalked the ground.

Hear the lonely raven’s call of love that binds us all. Thunder of the firmament, the chariots of war-These things I do know, wither where they go, these things I can tell to you all.

And the creator of the vision that fills your empty night and the soul that walks alone and the hands that hold you tight… And the memories awakening, a vision yet to be-My name is Tallyesse and I sing the Tu La Sea.

Hear the lonely raven’s call of love that binds us all. Thunder of the firmament, the chariots of war-These things I do know, wither where they go, these things I can tell to you all.

The courage lies within you and not with druid spells-The magic of the earth ist he magic within yourself. Listen to the heroes tales of days long ago-Search yourself and find the spirit that lies within your soul.

Hear the lonely raven’s call of love that binds us all. Thunder of the firmament, the chariots of war-These things I do know, wither where they go, these things I can tell to you all.

Broadsword - Bound for Valhalla

His name and glory shall never fade-Bound for Valhalla, his life prepaid. Remember the stand that Bob Mathews made-When asked to give up he defiantly stayed.

Letters were written and farewell he saved-For the race he loved his life he gave. On Whidbey Island time has passed-No monument there to record his task.

Bound for Valhalla-A hero, he died. To feast with the gods from above… At Odin’s side!

Embrace your loved ones, shed not a tear-Unleash your fury, forget your fear. For the greatest of honours are rendered those-Who stand in the vanguard against the foes.

Bound for Valhalla-A hero, he died. To feast with the gods from above… At Odin’s side!

Bound for Valhalla-A hero, he died. To feast with the gods from above… At Odin’s side!

Behold very soon a new dawn will arise-Legions of warriors having opened their eyes. Will smash their enemies with blood curding cries-Proclaim a new nation based on nature, not lies.

Bound for Valhalla-A hero, he died. To feast with the gods from above… At Odin’s side!

Bound for Valhalla-A hero, he died. To feast with the gods from above… At Odin’s side!

Odem - Schlaflos

That is a very nicely done song. I would not have called that White Power. I would have called it folk and protest music. Thank you for sharing it.

I would like to read the lyrics but have already heard enough today that I found objectionable and would perfer not to listen to music that I do not know what I going to hear.
I made a blanket statement and now need to back it up. I went aGoogling and this is what I found and listened to in thirty minutes. There are some that are actually quite excellent, these are not what I would consider white power but were at http://www.tightrope.cc/mp3page.htm which came up in a search for white power music. So I owe an apology to the bands that make beautiful music that is racially themed. There are more that make me very angry. My overall opinion of the genre has not changed. I realize that there is a soft border to folk and pagan music but still there is no place in my home for music that advocates violence or war.
The screwdriver links did not work so I do not know what I would think of them.
http://www.tightrope.cc/White-Power-MP3s/whitesupremacy.mp3
This literally makes me nauseas to listen to.

What I think of when I think of white power music.

I am named after a Viking but this is not the heritage that I honor.
http://www.micetrap.net/mp3s/JRQuitYourBitchinNigger!.mp3
This has a catchy tune and hateful lyrics.
http://www.tightrope.cc/White-Power-MP3s/hearwarcry.mp3
They want me to hear their war cry but that is the only line I can understand. Bound for Glory seems to be a popular band but they have no appeal to me.
http://www.whitepowerforum.com/mp3z/lookinghandout.mp3
This sounds like a very pissy working class whate man. The good nigger/ bad nigger concept has always bothered me on several levels.
http://www.micetrap.net/mp3s/ERWhiteUnity.mp3
One of the better white power things I have heard but not my style it sounds very skinhead.
http://www.tightrope.cc/White-Power-MP3s/88rnr_tercios.mp3
I am an angry violent sounding white male. This is just nasty.
http://www.tightrope.cc/White-Power-MP3s/klang_17children.mp3
About the children who died in Waco Texas. This almost made me cry. Classic folk music reminding us of tragedies that been almost forgotten. The government had a right to arrest Koresh but what happened was unbelievably wrong. There were no good guys. As the saying goes ‘I love my country, I fear my government’. I have held this opinion since I was a child.
http://www.tightrope.cc/White-Power-MP3s/valkyria_natten_sjunger_sjalv.mp3
This sound lovely but I do not speak swedish and have no idea what she is saying.
http://www.tightrope.cc/White-Power-MP3s/broadsword_excalibur.mp3
This is beautiful. I would call this a folk/pagan ballad not white power but it could be white power.

Thank you for posting the lyrics Dom.

I am NOT a fan of Robert J Mathews. However there were several that look pretty good. What is your favourite musical genre? And why?

Are you more into for example, Heavy Metal? Or is it synthpop?

Write down your preferences! :)

Here goes mine:

I'm more into metal. I would say I like all the sub-genres of metal (Doom, Black, Death, Trash, Folk, Viking, Goth, Heavy, Prog etc).

I also like some of the 80's hitsongs (Shh! That's a secret:D)
Folkmusic always goes well in my ears ;)

It'll be easier for me to list the types I do not like:

Rap / hip-hop

Any kind of jazz, especially "lounge" or "acid" jazz

Funk, R'n'B (some black "soul" singers are okay though, although I don't by any means listen to regularly)

Reggae (the dancehall / ska oriented stuff is okay though, especially the stuff produced in Britain a'la Specials, Madness, etc)

"Jungle", Drum'n'bass", "Speed garage", etc. Some types of techno are all right, think Orbital or similar artists.

Other than that, just about anything goes: metal, rock, pop, goth, country, folk, some classical, "world" music, etc.

Martial industrial and neofolk - as they're able to powerfully evoke primordial feelings: Der Blutharsch, Dernière Volonté, Blood Axis, Waldteufel, Hekate, Belborn, Allerseelen, Death In June, Von Thronstahl, A Challenge Of Honour, Wappenbund...

I like many types of music.

I appreciate classical music. I find it beautiful, relaxing and soothing. Among my favorites I can think of the following: Johann Sebastian Bach, Georg Friedrich Händel, Johann Pachelbel (baroque era), Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (classical), Ludwig van Beethoven, Carl Maria von Weber (classical/romantic), Richard Wagner, Johann Strauss (romantic).

I also like folk music, it is the expression of tradition and heritage. I like some yodeling. I listen to Franzl Lang's songs - he is considered the "yodelking".
Neofolk is another good genre IMO. I like some songs by Darkwood, Death In June, Empyrium, Forseti, Ostara, Sonne Hagal, Sturmpercht, Werkraum.

I find new age music to be relaxing and nice. My favorite band in this respect is Secret Garden, but I also like Enya and Moya Brennan.

I also listen to Amon Amarth (viking metal), Darkthrone (black metal), Eternal Tears of Sorrow (melodic death metal), Iron Maiden (heavy metal), Nebelhexë (ambient folk), Nightwish (symphonic metal), Stream of Passion (progressive/art/metal).

Rock is pretty much okay too - Aerosmith, Nine Inch Nails, Evanescence (alternative/rock). I prefer the gothic style though, bands like The Cure or Within Temptation. Another rock genre I like is Ostrock and generally the old music from the GDR like City, Silly, Feuer im Eis, Karussell, Oktoberklub, Gerd Christian, Frank Schöbel, Gaby Rückert, etc.

I like some electronic music like Kraftwerk and Delerium (electronic/ambient).

I'm not very sure I got all genres right, there are so many nowadays.

I like metal of all sorts - black, industrial, viking, doom, symphonic/power, medieval, folk, gothic etc. I also greatly appreciate classical and germanic folk music, as well as darkwave. Other genres I am keen on: ambient, rock, house, electronica, techno, and some europop.

Indie / Alternative rock / Indie-electronic / Punk music, everything from Razorlight to Smiths to Hot Chip to The Clash to Nirvana.

Electronic like Groove Armada, Air, Moby. There are so many dance music types. I like not too fast beats and analogue-sounding basslines.

And good pop music.

I tend to like bands/artists who make the sound they want to, instead of it being all electronic or all 4-piece band, just trying whatever works.

I know metal is popular here but I don't like it, the attitude & lyrics seem forced and the production is often lacking. I can like anything except rap/

I've been asked this question a lot lately (I've been meeting a lot of new people because I've started two new jobs), I can finally say that I like all genres. Growing up I was really picky when it came to music genres, but now I really just appreciate good songs from all sorts of genres. I think that my mind has opened more to different musical expressions as I've grown older and had more exposure to different things. :)

I hate all Rap, Hip-Hop, RnB, Jazz, Soul, Funk, and Reggae. It all sounds like utter garbage. If "Emo" is actually considered a genre, then I hate that as well.

I'm not very fond of Punk, but there a few exceptions. The vocalists have a tendency to sound rather wussy like a teenage boy going through puberty. Punk music sounds too generic, and I have no idea why people like it so much.

I don't really Black Metal. The very high-pitched shrieks are annoying, and the genre is too dark for my taste. Gothic music is too dark as well. A lot of bands get mislabeled Gothic for some odd reason. Nightwish, Evanescence, Epica, Within Temptations, Lacuna Coil and others are not Gothic just because the vocalist is a female.

For the most part, I enjoy Trance, Metal, Rock, Pop, New Age, Folk, Classical, etc. A good 95% of it is horrible though.

hmm..

I used to listen alot of Black metal, but lately I havent felt any good connection to it =/ Always enjoy Neo-Folk/Traditional folk music :)
I do find NSBM (National Socialist Black Metal) kinda nice, especially Absurd and Stahlgewitter :) Veil is also nice, with its Burzum-like tracks. It should also be noted that I am not a national socialist o/

I have also recently started to exploring the Dark ambient genre, after I got some albums of Karjalan Sissit from Rúna :)

Classical is also lovely, not something I listen to on a general basis, but prefer the dark, more depressing stuff :D
