Does anyone have good information on the racial structure of the Middle East? In particular the Arabs? I have seen Arabs that look very Caucasoid, even Nordic, and others that look very Negroid.

I suppose questions I have would be.

1. How much of the ancient Egyptian physical type survives?
2. What is the percentage difference between Arabs and Berbers in North Africa?
3. Did Somalis and/or Ethiopians settle in south-west Arabia? Does this account for the Negroid element in the Arabs?
4. Were the Elamites an Australoid race? Did the Dravidian/Australoid race in India spread into the Middle East?
5. Are the Arabs a "Semetic" people or are Semites a linguistic term for Jews?

Thanks for any answers.:)

Dravidians are not Australoid, the are dark caucasoids that settled in India and parts of Iran and Afghanistan probably from the Iraq region...a Dravidian's hair is straight and his skin is very dark..they civilizations were quite impressive but it got destroyed by the Aryan invaders about 3000 years ago..

The original Semits were mostly Orientalids (Arabid) but especially in the city areas Armenoids (Assyrid, Southern Armenoid) are an important part, as are Iranids in the North, and Eastmediterranids in many areas, especially the Arabised coasts. Alpinoid tendencies are present as well and especially in the lower classes Negroid admixture is very wide spread.

The Arabid type is a desert herder race with progressive tendencies on its own, Armenoids vary greatly but especially the urban variants are often overspecialised, even degenerated.

The best representatives of the original Arab(id) type which conquered the Arab world are Bedus which live their traditional life, f.e. those in Oman (cities are heavily mixed).

Ad hoc I can just say that "European-like" variants are much more common there than in most other ME regions, especially (East-)Mediterranids without strong admixture, Dinaroid-Armenoids without the typical ME features and Alpinoid, even Nordoid influences - beside the standard Orientalid and Armenid which is of course also present.
