I am thinking about creating another new banner for the forum. I would like to use images of farmland, workers ploughing fields, old farm equipment (nothing modern), as well as ancient Indo-European weaponry.

If anyone has such imagery, please post it here!

We're getting the second cut of the summer in these days in VT--haying that is. I'm always partial to images of summer haying and the act itself as it is a very communal, agrarian activity where neighboring farms help each other out with labor, equipment, etc.

I've attached a couple nice ones.

BTW, I very much enjoy the ploughing scene that is up now as a banner. :)

I am requesting that any members who are skilled in the art of photoshop create new banners for use on the forum. Let the artwork begin!

I'm not real skilled in Photoshop--but getting better as I've been using it to design some of the maps I do....

What are the pixel/inch dimensions that you'd like? Maybe I'll take a crack. ;)

Where did you get those landscapes from?

First one is GlenArtney in Scotland, second is West Yorkshire (hence Anglo-Saxon font), and the last is a photo of a sunrise here...

First 2* are of the net some way or another, none were copyrighted IIRC.

Well I feel like practising my skills so right now I'll draw people avatars (or other requests). Here is how it works. Show me a photo or picture of something with what you want with comments on what you want, or a detailed description of what you want. I shall draw it in Photoshop to your specified dimensions (avas are 200x250 or less).

Rules
1) Requests must follow the Althing rules.
2) Must not be something ridiculously time consuming (i.e.: Draw this incredibly detailed military model).
3) Complaints are stupid. Don't make them. I could charge money for this. :D
4) Be original and give me something interesting. ^^

If you want to see samples, look no further than my own avatar at the moment.

This sounds really fun. I guess I'll go first. I hope this isn't too complicated. How about a picture of the Mayflower coming into the New World and on the deck is a little stick figure or something identified as me. On the shore there could be a bunch of grumbling Indians not looking too happy but there's one in the front who says something like "OK guys, I know this might seem crazy but I really think we should give this multiculturalism thing a shot."

Something like that. You can be as creative as you want...work your magic, Freydis!

The boat of course should look somewhat like...well a boat but below is a really good one. I don't expect you to spend that much time on this.

Thanks and let me know if there are any problems or if this idea is stupid...

Leof, I can do more than one at once. :P

Ooh I see, so you got two hands do ya.:P

If you can, doesn't have to be too detailed... I would like an Iron Age-ish king, sitting on a chair rather nonchalantly, looking intently while resting his head on his palm.

Yeah, and I guess make it the biggest size it can be for avatars.

Thanks again.

Marvelous! I think it looks great. You have some definite ship-drawing skills. How much bigger is the other version? I'm assuming it's too big for an avatar but I think I would like to see it anyway...especially if its big enough for a desktop background!

Thanks so much! This one's a keeper.

Cap'n Soten came to the land of the red men and procreated to no end (so many little Jacks, Johns, Daves, Thomases, Jills, Sarahs, and Anns). He also refused to work, preferring instead a life of living off welfare...

The other version is far too big for an avatar. I think it's around 700 x something.

I can't really seem to find it but there was a great picture of what I'm after at the museum of history in Stockholm. Why don't you cruise on up there and take a look?
