Is there a soul?

Is the being and the self eternal?

It's not really a question of 'God.' God is easily created in man. Any number of philosophies posit the god-becoming with human intelligence.

The question is whether self CAN be eternal. The question is of spirit beyond body.

The Christian conception is that with the grace of God one lives after life, singing eternal praises to God in heaven.

Does free will end there? Does the capacity to rebel, to think end there? And given Eternity, would not one eventually rebel?

If one believes in metempsychosis, reincarnation, ... a self evolving from simple to great. What reward or purpose is there in ETERNITY. Moksha to what? To godhood? To merge with cosmic and plural creator?

Or was the elder Buddha right, before embellishment, that anihilation of self is goal. Easy enough in the grave, I think.

Is not the 'soul' merely an extension of the desire to live? This, even while nature teaches that each generation must give way to next...

I think our soul is one and the same with our mind. Either that or our Soul is merely the spark of life itself.

I believe that when we die this energy is released. I am not sure if it is a conscious energy or not or even what happens after. Maybe it is part of reincarnation. I don't know. These are just some ideas running around my head.

I tend to think that what is in front of us (material reality) is all we can know. I think it is both material and spiritual and all part of a natural wholeness in the universe. I believe that some "mind" put all into motion and natural laws are present in the universe. We are part of that. Will we consciously know after this life and have a unique and distinct personality in another form. I don't know. I think we spend too much time worrying about the afterlife and we have no way on knowing if it even exists. Race, culture, and family should be our concerns. All else will come naturally.
