THE YEARS PASS BY

Tall and wrecked and insipid and lovely
the years go walking
And when they pass, each one chips one of ours - ah

They walk away, like a raucous whisper
That might strangle the lungs but sways our lonely spirit to indomitable recrudescence
That when they pass, each pass in quivering awe for our glowing presence - ooh

(ooh) but we watch them so sadly
How can we tell them we loved the tender moments never regained and waiting for fullfillment
Yes we would give our heart gladly
But each cycle, when they walk into the sea of moaning oblivion
They look straight ahead, not at us -
nevermore

Tall and wrecked and insipid and lovely
the years go walking
And when they passes, we grimace our maudlin or bitter smile - but they don’t see (don’t see)
(they just don’t see, they never see us,...)

Yes, it is interesting. Though what does "slide" mean? I'm assuming slide into the New Year?

Happy New Year! I've got an early start to the beer drinking festivities. :prost

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And days of auld lang syne?
And days of auld lang syne, my dear,
And days of auld lang syne.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And days of auld lang syne?
We twa hae run aboot the braes
And pu'd the gowans fine.
We've wandered mony a weary foot,
Sin' auld lang syne.
Sin' auld lang syne, my dear,
Sin' auld lang syne,
We've wandered mony a weary foot,
Sin' auld ang syne.

We twa hae sported i' the burn,
From morning sun till dine,
But seas between us braid hae roared
Sin' auld lang syne. Sin' auld lang syne, my dear,
Sin' auld lang syne.
But seas between us braid hae roared
Sin' auld lang syne.

And ther's a hand, my trusty friend,
And gie's a hand o' thine;
We'll tak' a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.
For auld lang syne, my dear,

Have a Happy New Year everyone!

For those drinking heavily, as a doctor let me suggest to you that you drink a bottle of water before and after you start drinking. Alcohol dehydrates the body , consuming this extra water will help counter it , and reduce hangover symptoms. Also (if you can stomach anything), a meal of protein and carbon will help you afterwards (eggs, and burnt toast).

For those not in large cities with mass transit, drive safely. Sober up first, or ask someone sober for a ride.

Wishing you good fortune in the new year,
Bismark

I always drink 4 bottles of water aftertime, before I go to bed, helps great.

And indeed eat good (but not too much, otherwise you can't drink anymore :D )

I could have just edited my first post but i thought it would look strange and anyway im too pissed to care :P

here it is translated:

A good New Year to one and all,
And many may you see!
And during all the years to come,
O happy may you be!
And may you never have cause to grieve,
To sigh or shed a tear!
To one and all, both great and small,
A hearty, Good New Year!

Sunday, January 1st, 2006, 08:38 AM
ok this might sound a bit stupid translated :D

For old long ago, my dear,
For old times past,
We'll take a cup of kindness yet,
For old times past!

Should old acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And old times before?

And surely ye'll be your pint-stowp,
And surely I'll be mine,
(basically means you'll pay for your drinks and me mine)
And we'll take a cup o kindness yet,
For old long ago!

We two have run about the bank of a river,
And pulled the flowers fine,
But we've wandered many a weary feet,
Since a long time ago.

We two have paddled in the burn(stream)
From morning sun to evening,
But seas between us have broadly roared
Since long ago.

And there's my hand my trusty friend,
And give a hand of yours,
And we'll take a right good-feastfull drink of beer,
For old times sake.

There you go, my shitty translation of Auld lang syne :D
