Adil Abrini, 31, works in marketing

"I'm originally from Morocco and now I have the feeling that I'm being looked at as if I've done it, while it's got nothing to do with me.

"I didn't agree with everything he said and you shouldn't always say what you want to say [!]; there are norms and values and you have to have respect for other people."

Oh, so the Dutch are supposed to roll over and bow to -- "respect" -- the entirely alien Muslim menace? :eyes

Eric Hulscher, 39, taxi driver

"The atmosphere is grim after the murder. You feel strange, especially having seen that attacks [on mosques and an Islamic school] have now taken place.

"It will only get worse, all the talk about integration is a lot of nonsense.

"There's been talk of 'us' and 'them' and that's absolutely right."

"Perhaps these muslims should have more respect for the fact that Holland is a country where people have a habit of saying what they think. How do they say it, when in Rome, do as the Romans? Because they have a hard time adapting to western society where freedom of speech is valued very much and where religious fundamentalism isn't usual, doesn't mean we have to adapt to them (yes, "they" and "we")!

They behave as it would have been their own land... Incredible. As I previously said, a control mechanism must be put in place at all levels concerning migration communities of Muslim and non-White origins, but as well as for the others, if the reality proves it necessary.

i think the murder of van gogh signals a turning point in immigration policy. hopefully the public outrage towards his murder will result in a nationwide backlash against immigration and force the dutch government to enact more exclusionary measures.
