Does your Country or Region have a Coat of Arms and what is its Meaning and Origin?

http://www.flaggenlexikon.de/siebenb.gif

The colours of Siebenbürgen show three horizontal stripes in blue, red and gold. The colours descent from the blazon of the country.

http://www.flaggenlexikon.de/siebenbw.gif

The coat of arms of Siebenbürgen is divided by a red bar between blue and gold. In the blue field the upper half of a black eagle, sun and moon to the left and to the right. On the golden field seven red castles, a hint for the name of the country (sieben Bürgen = seven castles).

Coat of Arms of Hermannstadt

The shield is antique type. The two crossed tip down swords support by their cross-guard an open golden foiled crown. The swords skewer weavingly a linden foiled triangle with the tip toward the base of the shield.

About the significance of charges on the coat of arms of Hermannstadt

The significance of various the charges is set by Appendix no. 1a) of HG 1541/2002:

"Crossed swords, tip down, signify, accordingly to the mithology of medieval usage, the taking of possession over land, the will of citizens to defend the municipium and their civic rights.

Foiled crown, called by Transylvanian heraldry "Corona Regia", signifies the status of free royal city. Red tincture on the shield signifies local constitutional autonomy. Foiled triangle, sign of a the unity of trinity, signifies civic solidarity.

The coat of arms as a whole symbolizes the community of Sibians, and the gold signifies citizens' aspiration toward prosperity. The seven tower mural crown indicates the status of municipium.

The foiled triangle was the heraldic sign and the seal of the Universitas Saxorum of Sibiu (the representative assembly of the Germans in Transylvania, suppressed in 1876).

Code of Arms of the Kingdom of the Netherlands
The blason is based on the code of arms of the German principality of Nassau (our Royal Family is called van Oranje-Nassau). The modern code of arms was adopted in 1815 and slightly modified in 1907. The motto "Je Martiendrai" ("I will preserve") has always been the motto of the Orange Family ever since they came from the Principality of Orange. The old motto of the Netherlands always was "Concordia res parvae crescunt" ("Unity makes might") but it was replaced by the House of Orange in 1815 when the Netherlands became a Kingdom and was preserved after the Belgian independence in 1830.

Code of Arms of the Province of Utrecht (you can see the flag in my profile's State flag)
I am not certain by my knowledge is the meaning and origins this one: the white cross is the symbol of the medieval Arch Bisphoric of Utrecht, the white-red shield are the colours of the City of Utrecht. I am not certain about the red lion on a gold background- I happened to know that these are the colours of Holland though.

The colours are traditional.

The Confederate Seal
Adopted just before the downfall of the C.S.A., George Washington is portrayed surrounded by a wreath of products of The South (cotton, tobacco, wheat, corn). Deo Vindice means "God Will Vindicate." February 22, 1862 represents the date of Jefferson Davis' inauguration and George Washington's birthday.

The Bonnie Blue Flag
The unofficial Southern flag that originally began as the flag of the Republic of West Florida (where I'm from :)). Its use predates the Confederacy.

The Stars and Bars
The first Confederate national flag, designed to be similar to the Stars and Stripes Flag of the U.S.

The Stainless Banner
The second Confederate national flag created with use of the Battle Flag in reaction to a distaste for the Stars and Bars flag being so similar to the flag of the U.S.

The Blood Stained Banner
The third and last Confederate national Flag. The red stripe was added so it could not be mistaken as a flag of surrender. It is described as having a red bar from the flag of France and the cross of the Battle Flag in the corner from the British flag, both used to describe the origins of Southerners. You see these every now and then in these parts.

The Confederate Flag
A combination of the Battle Flag and 2nd Confederate Navy Jack. People love to fly this one.
