Welcome to Skadi. It it not mandatory that you introduce yourself before posting on the forum, but we would encourage you to. Introductions help break the ice and become acquainted to the community and its members. Please use our Introductions & Greetings Forum (https://forums.skadi.net/forumdisplay.php?f=327) to say hello to the community and let us get to know you.

Here are some guidelines and issues of note for introducing yourself as well as for welcoming new members:

- If you decide to introduce yourself, please write more than a simple "Hi" or "Greetings". A proper introduction includes information about yourself, so please take the time to share something with the community. Some examples would include why you're interested in Germanics, your background, interests, how you found Skadi, why you registered, etc.

- When welcoming a new member, a good way to engage them in conversation is by asking them brief questions about their country, region, profession or other details they made public in their profile and caught your interest. If someone from a place you've always had curiosities about has joined, now would be the time to learn something new. However please keep in mind that while some members enjoy answering many questions, some might find them overwhelming, so use some reason and moderation.

- It is generally allowed to welcome and greet members in their native language, even if it is not English. If the starting post or entire discussion is in another language than English however, the thread will probably be moved to the national/regional sections.

- Short thank you posts are ok in this area of the forum, so feel free to thank members for welcoming you to the forum.

Thank you for taking interest and joining the community!
