View Full Version : Do NOT Quote the Post Just Above Yours

The 'Quote Post' feature is designed to quote a post that was earlier in the thread, but NOT the one just above yours - everybody will understand that your reply will by default address the previous post.

If you systematically quote the posts above yours, the threads become a mess for the readers (we constantly have to read the same posts twice...). It also doubles the size of the threads for nothing. So please keep that in mind.

Also it is best to only quote the few lines that are relevant rather than whole posts... (this seems to be obvious but many just don't get it!)

Another thing: if you are posting images, it is much better if you can upload the image so that it remains attached to your post even in 5 years from now.

If you just link your image from another website, then whenever that website goes down or changes its pages, your image will be gone and the thread will often lose its meaning because of it. Plenty of great threads have been lost because the images that made them are now gone. Uploading the images ensures that your thread will stay relevant for years to come.
