Surely to be controversial to the Skadi crowd:

What if you had Adolf Hitler in the sights of your sniper rifle, ready to take down the Fuhrer and drastically change World War 2? Then you, my friend, would probably be playing the pre-order bonus DLC for Sniper Elite V2, which gives a surreal opportunity to pick off the head of Nazi Germany himself.

"Intel has been received that Hitler is returning from Berchtesgaden to Berlin via his personal train. Players must intercept the train as it waits at the station and take down the Fuhrer as he hastily makes way for the station on foot," publisher 505 Games explains. "There is only one opportunity to snipe Hitler and do what so many wish had been done - make it count."

The snappily-named 'Assassinate The Fuhrer - Kill Hitler DLC Pack' also adds two extra guns, the Soviet SVT-40 battle rifle and the German Kar 98 service rifle--for all your Hitler-killing needs.

Developed by Rebellion, Sniper Elite V2 is headed to PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on May 1. The game was originally announced as a console exclusive, but is also coming to PC.

You think he'd be smart enough to not ride around with the top of his car in the down position. :-O

There has been many what ifs throughout history regarding historical events, especially during wartime. Many in WW2 alone. Did the United States know about Pearl Harbor beforehand and just let itself get attacked? What if Germany had withdrawn a little to rest up for the winter and then continued the attack on Russia during the next spring. What if germany had continued its invasion of Britain a little more vigor than it did.

Is this a computer game ? It would figure, I don't personally like computer games. Find them boring.

I am glad I was not alive during ww2 because I have German blood and have relatives over there today somewhere and would hate to think I would have to fight them. No way this would of worked for me and glad my relatives that were alive that did serve, served in the pacific and not in europe. Our relatives did write to each other after the war ended so there was no animosity towards each other. I would just like to know where in Germany my relatives are from. Anyway went off the topic of this thread a little bit but I can not stand seeing any ww2 games.

I think that when we get 'games' involving the assassination of actual historic figures with their features shown in graphic detail, just waiting for you to mess them up with a bullet, you realise you are part of a very sick, desensitised society.

I wonder if it would be deemed acceptable to include others on the target list, such as ...

Menachem Begin (Jewish terrorist/PM of Israel)
Malcolm X (Black racist, 'hate' agitator)
Winston Churchill (Warmonger & War Criminal)
Joe Stalin (Holodomor etc..)
Mao Zedong (36 m. killed during the 'Great Leap Forward')

At the very least we should have a 'multi-option' mode here where you can choose the person you intend to murder - if that's your thing - instead of the designated bad guy being Adolf Hitler (once again ... :yawn)

Or maybe we could even kill some characters who are still alive (after all, where do you draw the line here?) such as George Bush or his mental sidekick, Tony Blair? I'm sure that Nelson Mandela would also be a popular choice with some gamers ;)

Yes, I can certainly see some great marketing possibilities for a sequel to this 'game', should it ever become a best-seller!

Right on with this one. How come there is no games with communist leaders.

On other leaders being assasinated... there is JFK: Reloaded (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JFK:_Reloaded). Don't remember ever seeing any Godwinson listed, apart from Winston Churchill being an unlockable character in one of the Playstation 1 Medal of Honor games for multiplayer. :D

Apart from showing up as a statue and in cutscene footage in many games, Comrade Stalin has starred in:

I would imagine the breeze would be pretty brisk at that time of night.

For a computer game to be immersive, I have to identify with the character Iam playing, to kill the David who stood up to the Goliath of global banking, especially as we are now watching the chickens come home to roost, is not where my sympathies lie.

Far better the flight sim IL2 where you can fly on the side of the Germans, feeling good that every British bomber you destroy saves the lives of many innocent women and children.

A strong breeze would be hell on a sniper's aim.

I can also get the same feeling shooting down Luftwaffe bombers while flying the British or Soviet aircraft. ;)

The Doom series is on my backlog of 'games I should have played by now'. Right after the game Wolfenstein 3D, staring Mecha Hitler (http://wolfenstein.wikia.com/wiki/Adolf_Hitler), by the same developers. :rofl

Star wars 88: The Reich Strikes Back.

You are Herr Hermann Jäger a native German, as a child you lived in the German countryside, you remember being struck by lightning while climbing in an old Oak, since that day you started having visions of a turbulent apocalyptical future and glimpses of the past. It has however always been clear to you that the vision originated from outside of your own consciousness. Being a man approaching the summer of your life you have trodden a demeaning and frustrating path due to conditions completely removed from your own control, you and people like you are despised by the current Orwellian world constructed to subjugate all people of the world and destroy your own people forever as your existence is deemed a threat to the “harmony” the Order (as they refer to themselves) seek to create.

Game opens with a chaotic sequence, it is a vision, you receive instructions to leave the city and return to your child hood home, the vision left the impression that to delay a moment would lead to the destruction of all humanity and thus you dare not linger. The year is 2045, Gathering what the vision required, you immediately comply and finally reach the house of your childhood 2 days later, avoiding agents of the Order, the plot of land on which a magnificent old Low Saxon house once dwelled is all that remain of your happy childhood, the tree in the field adjacent to the plot where you were “enlightened” has also been cut down, only a weathered stump remains, your vision implored you to dig at the foot of the tree, diligently you set to work at the local specified by the vision. You strike what appears to be metal, as you continue you uncover a large curved surface emblazoned with a Swastika, when your task is complete you had uncovered what can only be described as a flying saucer, about 3 meters in diameter you enter the vehicle and of its own accord if takes off into the sky.

In a matter of minutes the craft lands and the door opens, you emerge into a large brightly lit space, it appears to be a hanger of some sort, as you emerge and your eyes adjust to the light you notice in the distance what appears to be submarines but nothing like you have ever seen. You are met by a man clothed entirely in black, he welcomes you cordially in your native German to Neuschwabenland and requests you to follow him. You are taken down a long sloping corridor and turn into a room. You are met by a slender lady with long blond hair, you are then told that she belongs to an old German order which seeks the restoration of a dying earth and humanity. You learn that the Nazi’s established a temporary base in Antarctica, from there they staged a tactical retreat to a world outside our own solar system known as Aldebaran, there they received technological assistance from beings not dissimilar to ourselves who found in Germanics their first contact with a life form capable of steering its own evolution, like they themselves where capable of. Thus a respite to plan and make ready for the coming struggle for the continued existence of your people was afforded the Nazi’s by the beings on Aldebaran. The Nazis had now returned four generations richer and had establishing a permanent base in Neuschwabenland from where they will lunch their assault on the Eye and Pyramid the sign of the Order. Because you possess the ability to see the past you are trained and join covert task force, your team then travels back to 1933 Germany armed with knowledge and advanced technologies to aid the war effort. The Führer himself then task your team to travel to certain points in time and alter events that ensures that National Socialism wins the war and Germanics survive the ages eternal.

Godwinsons list would be a good place to start the missions.

Games I would use elements from:

Timeshift
Singularity
Deus ex
Half life 2
Call of Duty
STALKER
Ghost Recon
Battlefield
Crysis
Splintercell
Metal Gear Solid

Of course a killer Call of duty style multiplayer will be included…
