View Full Version : The Skadi Iron Cross

I think awarding the Skadi Iron Cross to those who helped Skadi get back on line was a wonderful idea. I just think it could be extended to show merit in another area. We have several members who regularly find and attach to their posts articles of interest to us all. I am especially thinking of articles on anthropology and genetics which these guys somehow find and bring to us all. Shouldn't their repeated efforts, going beyond "the call of duty" deserve a Skadi Iron Cross or something like it.?

It was a good idea! It was such a good idea that the basic principle should be extended to other individuals who have maintained the high level we take for granted at Skadi. This "high level" is what originally attracted me and I am sure many others here. They have not been given any formal or public recognition for their labors. Perhaps, every few months or so, a poll could be conducted and Iron Crosses awarded to the deserving. Or, the administrator could award Iron Crosses.

I do not think that Iron Crosses should be awarded for this -- seeing that they are a German military award reserved for those who have shown exceptional loyalty, bravery and comradeship in battle; risking their own lives in the defense of their nation and their people.

The administration could consider, however, to create a special user title ... similar to the "Skadi Funding Member" title for those whose contributions have been of particular excellence.

You deserve a Ritterkreuz...maybe NSFreja and I will give you one! hehe :P ;)

I think a title of recognition under the member's name as in "Skadi Funding Member" would be appropriate.

They are still bestowed by the German Reich, however, and not by me, Skadi or you.Well, the WW2 versions WERE (<--keyword ;) ) awarded by the old Reich, but are now the private property of individuals and are available on the open-market to the highest bidders...so, anyone who owns one (or more) and wants to give one (or more) to someone else is certainly entitled to! :P Ask, NSFreja!!! hehe :D

Let's rather create a Hwizcros. ;)Well, God Almighty has already done THAT! of course; ergo this typing by the one and only Hwizcros!!! hehe :P ;) But, I'll make a deal with ya', I'll design a whole line of 'hwizcros's (awardable to Teutonics only! hehe :P ) including the medals and ribbons; then YOU! pay for the striking of the medals and the further completion of their manufacture!!! LOL :P ;)

We just added a software modification that permits the management of such awards.

We added Funding Awards and a Support Award (for Design and Scripting) already and we shall add more awards soon.

In particular we are considering to add an

Excellence Award: The Excellence Award is bestowed upon all members that have continually contributed information of extraordinary and exceptional value to the Skadi community, and a
Conduct Award: The Conduct Award is bestowed upon all members that have continually exhibited exquisite manners, examplary conduct, as well as magnanimity in victory.
Nominations for these awards, ideas for other awards, as well as award icon proposals are welcome. The latter should be about 20x20 pixels in dimension.

I dont deserve so much praise; given the priviliged life style, despite my health problems(I stayed up this night, a temporary relapse of my gastritis kept me from bed), I could do better.
I posted a lot of links and articles lately, but little was fruition of my mind.

My nomination goes to one of my best friends I ever had.
For her sake I cant divulge supplementary reasons why I esteem her so highly besides that she has posted with determination, passion and demonstrating astounding eruditism and sense of synthetisize incredible large heaps of information and data to our benifit, to the grandeur and fame of Skadi Forum.

We know her as Atlanto_Med and my first nomination goes to her.

Yes, Atlanto_Med is the best, in total, when it comes to issues of human evolution/genetics. Atlanto_Med comments are also great in archaelogy and lingusitics.

Rusalka deserves recognition as she brings perhaps the widest cultural view to us of anyone at Skadi. She seems to be able to make intelligent and insightful comments about anything from obscure ethnic groups in southeastern Eruope to art history, to Ukranian cooking.
