It is tomorrow only and it is $108 total.

"For a limited time, you can order a 23andMe kit for $0 up front, plus a 12-month commitment to our Personal Genome ServiceŽ at $9/month. This is down from the regular price of $199 plus $9/month.

This promotional price will be available from 12:00AM PST until 11:59PM PST on Monday 4/11/11, or while supplies last!"

I would recommend dna testing for either health issues info, you are a genetics geek or for genealogical reasons. I have been able to make paper connections with several people that I would not have otherwise. Filled in some gaps also.

I heard from someone that the DNA day was 15 April. Am I wrong, or is there still going to be another sale that day?

Does anyone know if the price skyrocket after Monday(I think it's normally $499), or just go back to 199?

This is from the 23andme forums. After tomorrow it will go back to the 199 price.

Well, Monday 11 April has come, so I checked their website (https://www.23andme.com/), and it's the same old price as it's been when I last checked, 199. Why don't I see a sale? What's the deal here if DNA day is today? What's with the dealy?

And it's already past 12:00 PST.

It was updated to 12:00 PDT not PST. Or the lazy web devs forgot to update the page.

But why is it that when I click it , it says it's 199 again?

I just got mine ordered.

It was $14.95 for freight (which is probably way too much, so they are making 10 bucks there I am betting)

Then you commit to $9/mo. for 12 months, which starts AFTER they complete your DNA profile and start feeding you the data (which sounds like it could be a total of 6 weeks).

Total paid through term = $122.95

Altogether an awsome value in my opinion.

What was said in my other thread by Wynterwade is interesting and has changed my opinion about this service.

However, I am very interested in 2 things at a minimum:
-my genetic characteristics medically
-the possibility of finding ancestors who are deep into genealogy

The mapping and ethnicity parts of it I will take with a grain of salt. I do think it will be interesting where it places me regardless of whether that has anything to do with my actual ancestors birthplaces.

69 USD for shipping here, but on the website it said that shipping back and all customs costs are included in that price. Still a good bargain I think.
