It's finally arrived!

For over 300 years Scots Jews have waited for their own tartan and now - here it is!

The official Jewish Tartan is an authentic Scottish tartan created by Heritage Experts and Rabbis.

It is the only Scottish Jewish Tartan approved and registered by the Scottish Tartans Authority.

Initiated by Rabbi Mendel Jacobs (pictured above) - the only Scottish born Rabbi living in Scotland, it's 100% Kosher - being a non wool-linen mix, and as it incorporates many aspects of Scottish-Jewish cultural and religious history, it is the perfect representation of our heritage.

Scotland has a rich tapestry of culture and history and for many years has welcomed other people into its midst.

The Jewish people have been an integral part of Scottish Culture for more than 300 years, with the first Jewish person recorded as living in Edinburgh is 1691.

Although everyone cannot see it, im currently shaking my head in complete digust. This is simply shameful.

This is a complete mockery of true Scottish culture. Whats next? Tartan turbans for the ragheads to make them feel more "at home"? :thumbdown

I am actually laughing out loud... that is one of the best satire pages I've read...

I think a Jewish Tartan is a little like that outfit that promises to - "Name a Star after You"...

Complete nonsense, but harmless nonsense...

That same midi file can be played at their funeral.

You Germanics, are a little short in the Kilt department.... Why should it trouble you that a Sikh or Paki wears a skirt?

I hope im misunderstanding you or your post.

If the Pakis feel the need to wear a "skirt" as you put it, whats stopping them from completely taking over other Germanic cultures, eh? Nothing.

It troubles me that they wear our "skirt" because its a traditional SCOTTISH garment that should only be wore by you guessed it, SCOTS or people of Scottish descent that clearly identify with being a Scot. As far as i know, its not part of any middle-eastern tradition ;). I'd like to see it remain that way.

Well, neither is wearing a suit and tie or any other form of western dress "part of any middle-eastern tradition" (or South Asian in this case).

No it is not the perfect representation of their heritage. That is false. It is the perfect representation of the manufactured heritage they are trying to create which does not exist. Just as they do in all cultures they attach themselves to, they try to claim that they are somehow a part of that culture. It's a violation of our heritage which is sacred to us, and is offensively voyeuristic. I'm only fractionally Scottish, but I get angry about this because they do the same thing, and moreso, to English heritage.

There could be something in it....the Scots and the jews have something in common when it comes to money.
Ever heard the saying..."He throws his money about like a scotsman with no arms"...the scots could be a long lost tribe of jews....:D
