Anyone else interested in training with large stones?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lifting_stone

I usually "train/play" one day a week while I hike with my dogs. No other weight training is like it. It is a blast!

Fullsterkur status refers to the weight of the actual stone; for this status the stone must weigh a minimum of 155 kg (341 lbs). Hálfsterkur ("half strength") stones weigh up to 104 kg (228.8 lbs), hálfdrættingur ("weakling") stone up to 49 kg (107.8 lbs), and amlóði ("useless") stone up to 23 kg (50.6 lbs).

Well I've lifted 50lb bags of potatoes into the cart (but never carried them around the store) so I know I could at least handle at least the "useless" level.

I did lift someone off the floor who was over 200 lbs so I could do that although it seems part of the problem of lifting a heavy stone is that it might be closer to the ground and lifting it up from the ground could be tricky and possibly dangerous to the back to attempt incorrectly.

I like the Húsafell Stone story.

I wish there was a huge meteorite that was used as a lifting stone ... that would be cool.

My dad used to work with large stones (tell a lie, it was mostly concrete) and wore heavy duty gloves. He still suffered callouses and cuts now and then. Big stones can hurt and yet using heavy stones is an ancient/prehistoric job men always did.

Slightly in topic and yet marvellous too is this story:

As I a girl, I can not have muscles (and I don't even want to have ones) like some fitness women models. But one can still try to train technique (I think I'm doing that almost my whole lifetime ...competing/challenging just myself) and the sky is the limits.

Just a fiction/video...

Prime Mike Tyson would have raped him.

A good big man will always beat a good small man. Yeah, a very good small man can beat a good big man, but all being equal the bigger guy will always win.

Technique is very important, but size matters not just because of reach, but because of the amount of weight they have behind the strikes and takedowns or on top with mount etc.

Yeah...as I said it was fiction. But .... I think that small Chinese man would have beaten Sylvester Stallone (''Rocky'') .... even as American guy has/had bigger muscles (in his best days).

A small guy like Manny Pacquio even now would destroy prime Stallone, but I did hear on Joe Rogan's podcast that Stallone has a good work ethic and is passionate about boxing.

Probable so yes...still while filming Rocky IV Dolph Lundgren (Swe) had accidentally punch him too strong/too far/ too good touch ... and Stallone had calculated sheep/stars.

You can't compare different fighting Styles .. If one got the right hit its over, doesn't matter who you are, big or small.
