I am trying to get into Wotanism and I am not sure if that is exactally the same as Asatru or not. I know Wotanism focuses on Odin as God, but when I look at Asatru you study all the gods more or less. Correct me if I am wrong. I will still remain an Atheistic Heathen though as of right now, meaning willing to learn, but I still do not believe in God. Here is the site: http://www.14words.com

The funny thing about this is I still have not even touched anything on Odalism. I more or less put the link out for reference if anyone wanted to look at it. Many people claim the books are good reads, so why not. My religious search has been kind of difficult, but kind of easy at the same time. I am remaining as an Atheist still and still believe nature created existentence. I still have the Catholistic believe of an afterlife of some sort. I do not know if it will be some form of reincarnation,a new life, etc. Nietzschean philosophy is great as well. So I do not know, odd stuff I guess.

I can understand where you are coming from, having been raised in Ireland and educated in Catholic schools i have some hang ups about stuff, like if you dont' get baptized you'll go to hell and all that fun stuff, took me along time to get over it...

Yes, indeed. Many of my cousins went to Catholic school, but I never did. I never chose to go really because when I was younger I think it was the thought of having to wear the uniform. There is nothing in Catholic doctrine about Catholic "K-12", so why would they even make such a rule.Anyway, but I think I remember something now. I think you showed me some Ireland pictures on Skadi before if I am not mistaken. I was the one who brought up Donegal.

History is replete with innumerable examples of the power and importance of religious creeds. The purpose of this dissertation is not to demand, or even expect absolute conformity between various individuals who call themselves Wotanists or Odinists. Indeed, there are "Wotanists" whose beliefs would conform to the popular definition of Atheist.

However, when I decided some twenty years ago that a religion was a necessary and vital weapon in our struggle against genocide, it was with the knowledge that the vast majority of our folk possess what I call a "Godsense." That then is a power that must not be ignored. But before a subject so vital to the survival of the white race can be covered accurately it is necessary that terms be defined with precision.

Let us start with the word religion. A religion is a philosophy or creed which incorporates a God, or Gods, and sometimes other beings beyond the comprehension of mortals.

The proponents and perpetuators of a religion may design its creed for any number of purposes, some constructive, some destructive. Unfortunately, the base, power hungry, and unprincipled men who have dominated the Western world for 2500 years were not about to permit the growth or continuation of any religion which might interfere with their control, wealth or authority. And of course any religion restricted to a particular race or nation was a hindrance to imperialism, which we now call one world government.

On the other hand, a universalistic religion would serve to unite the races, nations and cultures of an empire. And so, under the orders of Constantine, Emperor of Rome, in 325 AD, as Christians reckon time, a new "Catholic" religion was created. The word Catholic means universal in Latin. (See Websters 3rd International Unabridged Dictionary for example)

The diligent and honest researcher will discover that Constantine's new religion was an almost exact parody of Mithraism, which was the major religion of the Roman legions. The events which formed the dogma of the new religion were then ascribed to Palestine, an area over one thousand miles away, and back dated over three hundred years so that denial was difficult.

And additionally the money powers behind Rome had themselves inserted as "God's Chosen People" in the new religion, along with a fraudulent history.
Now at this point the defenders of Christianity are undoubtedly going to protest, saying that the Catholic church persecuted the Jews. But by their own dogma one of "God's Chosen" named St. Peter was the first bishop (Pope) of Rome. And the most infamous torturer of the inquisition named Torquemada was one of "God's Chosen." There were internal power struggles which were then exploited and mislabeled by the internally persecuted "Chosen Pets of God."

Now at this point it is necessary to clarify another word, to wit: "Semitic." There exists on this earth three root races and mixtures. The root races of man are Caucasoid (white), Mongoloid (oriental) and Negroid (black). For many centuries the Eastern end of the Mediterranean sea was the crossroads for trade between Asia, Africa and Europe. To form alliances the sons and daughters of the merchants and bankers were married off to each other, often of other races. And so a mixed race of people called Semites was formed carrying the genes of all three root races. Today they are called Arabs and Jews. Both are Semites.

The next word we must clarify is "God." In the teachings of Hermetic philosophers, both ancient and modern, there exists a force and intelligence in the universe. Today we would call it a "Cosmic Mind." Because of the shapes into which nature forms, among many reasons, God was called the 'Grand Geometrician/Mathematician of the Universe. As modern man understands that all things, from the tiny solar systems of atoms to the massive solar systems of the universe, to human thought, consists of electro-magnetic forces and patterns, we discover that the Hermetic philosophers were perhaps wise beyond their times.

Of course when defining words used in religion we should also be aware of the Cabalistic coding which is so often included. For example, when Sir Francis Bacon and the British Royal Society created the coding system of the King James Bible, they also added letters to the alphabet, set them in order, and formed many new words.

Seventy four is the first function of an ancient mathematical device called the Magic Square of the Sun. This coding was inserted so that an appointed time the permanent disclosures, i.e. (opening and shutting) of Isiah 22 verse 22, and Revelation 3 verse 7 would take place. The King James Bible was then shepherded down through the centuries with the coding clarified as it became safer to do so. The "Shepherds" were adepts in secret societies which have also been the powers behind the scenes in the creation and destruction of nations, religions and philosophies.

Unfortunately, priestcrafters, in service to greedy and power hungry tyrants discovered that if they anthropomorphized the God force into a kind of glorified man, they could control people with the words "God said." On this deception has rested the power of priests, usually for evil purposes, for thousands of years. "Holy books" filled with "God said," have served the interests of kings, emperors and presidents for dozens of centuries.
Nearly thirty years ago, with all of this in mind, I began to search for religious concepts which would preserve our people. Things to consider were the history of various religions adopted by or forced on, the Aryan race, genetic memory and the collective subconscious as explained by Carl Gustav Jung, the nature of Gods, Goddesses and myths, appeal to the racial soul, an entrenched priesthood, alleged holy books, modern science, and on and on.

At the time, I began to search for an appropriate religious approach to aid in the struggle against genocide, the only existing creed was that known as Identity Christianity. And to be just as honest as possible the doctrine did inspire some good men such as Gordon Kahl and several members of the Order Brüder Schweigen. But, its adherents did not total one in ten thousand of those who call themselves Christian. Additionally, Identity teachers demanded literal belief in bible stories which conflicted with science and natural law.

Even worse I discovered that Identity believers spent more time denying that their holy book said what it said, than teaching something useful. Love your enemies, turn the other cheek, sex is sin, only virgin men are preferred by God, give unto Ceasar, God is love, or alternately God is vengeance, and on and on, pollutes their holy book. And then of course history shows that Christianity is the most powerful weapon ever used against the freedom and existence of the white race.

Well, my purpose here is not to attack others whose goals are noble, even if I don't see any chance of success in their creed. I looked for a religious creed that might appeal to the genetic memory of the largest body of our folk. Also a creed that would stir the warrior soul. The logical answer was Wotanism, although at the time I found only one small organization headed by an elderly lady named Elsie Christianson which embraced a form of the doctrine. And they called it Odinism. However, in the nineteen eighties some other small publishers showed up, also calling themselves either Odinist or Asatru. Asatru meaning true to the old Gods called the Aesir.

Unfortunately, or perhaps in some cases by malicious design most of these publishers denied the natural law of racial self preservation and separation in an attempt to be politically correct and respectable.

So, I first chose the name Wotanism over Odinism. First because W.O.T.A.N. makes a perfect acronym for Will Of The Aryan Nation. Secondly because he was called Wotan on the European continent and only called Odin in Scandinavia. Therefore Wotan appeals to the genetic memory of more of our ancestors. And finally because a split had to be made with the game players, deceivers and universalists who had usurped the name Odin.

My next step was to form a doctrine or creed for modern Wotanism. Of course the whole reason for the project was to stop the forced mixing and murder of the white race. So it had to be true to natural law, the highest law of nature being the preservation of one's own kind. It had to accommodate not only my own 'Godsense' but that of others. And it had to totally destroy the New Age kind of suicidal deception being spread by the "respectable" Odinists.

Perhaps the greatest and most dangerous or suicidal deception of the New Agers is that the force and intelligence we call God is made up of, or infused with an emotion called "love." The fact is, the Creator made lions to eat lambs, wolves to eat fawns, hawks to eat sparrows, and the races of men to fight for life, women, food, territory and power. There is no love love love!! There is just law law law!! Harsh, sometimes cruel, but still divine law!!

Divine law demands exclusive territorial imperatives and exclusive hegemony, i.e. control, if a race is to survive. That is a truth no other religion but Wotanism will teach. It is not my purpose in this dissertation to discuss the meanings of the Gods, Goddesses, myths or runes of Wotanism. By studying the philosophical concepts attached to each rune a person can develop a complete and natural personality. We have more Gothi learning and teaching natural law through the myths every month.

So let me leave you for now with one of my own proverbs, perhaps my favorite, to wit: "Nature and nature's laws are the work of the Creator. Therefore nature's laws are God's laws. And the first and highest law of nature is the preservation of one's own kind."

Yes, but you can never compare David Lane to Guido Von List.

David Lane:
''So, I first chose the name Wotanism over Odinism. First because W.O.T.A.N. makes a perfect acronym for Will Of The Aryan Nation.''

And that's about it for his ''Wotanism''.

Guido von List's idea of Heathenism was on one hand very esoteric in that it focussed a lot on Rune-discovery, spiritual purity and other largely esoteric matters. On the other hand, it can be seen as very racial, a pioneering venture into Ariosophy.

However, List's use of the term "Wotanism" was not only variable, but only referred to the exoteric manifestation of what he perceived as a new philosophical treatment of ancient Germanic faith, intended "for the masses". As far as the more philosophical, metaphysical and esoteric treatment, he preferred the term "Armanism".

List's approach is an interesting one to study, especially since his and Lanz von Liebenfels' esoteric discoveries/opinions rank as unrivalled, something that hasn't been done to such an extent at any time before or since. As such, whilst I would be careful about fully subscribing to either of their rationales, I consider their contribution as valuable to the re-awakening of our folk.

This compares by no means at all with Lane's and McVan's use of the term, which was basically giving their political beliefs a religious cloak to receive validation, and to allow them to introduce their propaganda into prisons via the permission for religious prison outreach. Their ideas on dualism and Jungian archetypes were alright enough, but the rest is basically just Hollywood-Nazi WPWW blabber under a different cloak, nothing "Germanic Heathen" about that.

Credit where credit is due, but they were quite simply not Germanic Heathens, to them the whole thing was just an extension to their personal politics, and as such I'm not going to accept their views as worthy of much discussion. That politics and faith should be complimentary is self-explanatory, but that one should be used as an excuse to push the other is a concept I reject as being much more in line with Islamic mindset than Germanic mindset.

Lane's brand of "Wotanism" has about as much to do with Germanic Heathenry as Kebab has with Stovies (both are made with leftover meat, got to be the same?), and thus any discussion on his treatises thereon will be personally moved by me to a different sub-section, provided they serve any constructive discussion purpose (whether for discussion spiritually, politically or philosophically), lacking which they will be closed without much comment. ;)

Wotanism – Laws of Life

Via Ron McVan
“Wotanism is a teaching of reality based on sharpest scientific knowledge and their logical expression”. It’s piety is “the unconditional bow to the divine laws of existence made known to man. –Its prayer is: Courageous fulfillment of the resultant duties.”

Wotanism wins its truth from the view of the world. It is a real world-view. Possessing a world-view, however, means behavior toward life and the values of life that is in harmony with the view one has of the world. Each person looks at the world through his eyes; he experiences the world according to the pulse of his blood. World-view is hence always bound to the kind, and each folk has – becomes it is bound by common blood — its special world-view.

How does a Wotanist Heathen view the world?

When a Heathen strolls across a field on a bright summer day or on a white winter night, he looks in reverence at the beauty of the world: Overhead the sky’s blue and the sun’s light, or the army of ever shining stars, or the clouds of dark hunt; all around the ripening fields and wide meadows full of stalks and blooms, or the glistening sea, or the light snowflakes of snow. And when in autumn nights he experiences the whipping sound of rainfall, as the forest struggles with the force of storms or the dunes on the coast with the waves of the sea, he may understand that the world, a place of beauty, is at the same time a field of eternal struggle. The strong man affirms the world as it is.

Never would be born in a Heathen heart the idea that the world is nothing by an “earthly valley of woe”. The divine creative force, according to the Wotanist faith, is too sublime and too rich to create an “earthly valley of woe”.

The Heathen man or woman who takes a spring walk along forest paths and listens to the pious song of a bird that has built its nest in a tree, in which five young now dream toward life, could never produce the idea the young birds hatched from their eggs burdened with original sin. However, when listening to the light bird song one feels the joy of Nature that proclaims that conception and birth are fulfillment of divine law. Does not a mother of our folk also fulfill the divine law of existence, when she gives the folk children? Never could Heathen parents believe that the joy of fatherhood or motherhood is bound to a curse or a sin. Never could Heathen children enter the world with original sin!

Through conception and birth emerge the things of life, and through death they depart again. When the leaves fall in autumn, when the ancient tree falls in the wind, that is a necessary event. The death of the individual living being, however, is not the “wage of sin”. The individual tree comes and departs according to natural laws: but the forest sings eternal! — So comes and departs the individual person: but the folks live eternal!

From the view of the world he thus wins the realization: The world in which we live is not an earthly valley of woe, rather blessed homeland earth; conception and birth are not sin and guilt, rather fulfillment of divine will; and death is not the wage of sin, rather life-law, necessity and fate.

“At the summit of the program does not stand secretive suspecting, rather clear realizing. — There were eras when half-darkness was the prerequisite for the effectiveness of certain teachings, and there is today an era where light is the basic prerequisite for our successful action.”

In the sunlight of knowledge shine the eternal truths of the Wotanist world-view. It is the result of the Heathen struggle for knowledge and at the same time the inner certainty of Heathen character.

The struggle for knowledge, for light and truth, was always called heresy by obscurantists. So knowledge of the causality of the universe came under the curse of priests. And today the knowledge and the conscious observance of the eternal laws of life are also under the church’s ban.

Giordano Bruno was burned as a heretic, because he dared to speak out with heroic passion, completely in Heathen spirit: We seek God in the unchanging, unbending law of Nature, in the reverent disposition of a spirit directed according to this law; we seek him in the brilliance of the sun, in the beauty of things that emerge from the lap of this our mother earth, in the genuine reflection of his essence, the sight of countless stars that shine on the immeasurable fringe of the one sky…”

The Heathen soul experiences God from the start directly: in the law of the earth, in the rustling of forests, in the raging of seas and storms, and the observation of the star-filled heaven it speaks reverently and piously. In such reverence it bears responsibility before the laws of Nature. Heeding the laws of Nature means affirming God; violating them means to alienate from the divine.

Today we again know: the law of the earth is also the law of our human life. And as the earth lives as a result of the sun, so must we humans remain loyal to the laws of life. As our ancestors, following the healthy instinct of their race, lived in harmony with the laws of Nature, so can we — having become knowing through view and knowledge — consciously bring our life in harmony with the causality of the world.

Reverence for life is always the basis for a living faith and genuine piety. The person for whom the world is divine, because it appears to be shaped by will of the gods, will never lose reverence for life and its laws. The separation of Wotan and the world springs from an alien way of thinking. The banishment of the divine from Nature has as its result the contempt of earth and of earthly life. While original man — with the consciousness of being the bearer of earthly life — had reverence for himself as well as reverence for life itself, the man who only images a God beyond the world has neither reverence for himself nor reverence for what blossoms and prospers on earth. He only has reverence for what he images above the world, and receives a feeling of reverence for himself only along the detour of the feeling of being a creature, that means God’s creation.

We see eternal Nature in the beauty and thousand-fold blessed and holy earth. Nature reveals itself to us in the millions of blooms in the young year, the waving gold of summer corn fields, the shine of the snow and the purity of falling snow flakes at Yule, the birth of life from the motherly lap.

Observation of the history of all folks of the earth leads to the realization that each folk has the fate that it deserves. Since folks have emerged in accordance with the will of life, they themselves hear the responsibility for their fate. And the statement is valid: No God distributes right or injustice in history: the folks are responsible for themselves.

The decline of a folk is the natural result of the frivolous violation of the laws of Nature. Only a reverent affirmation and the conscious observance of the divine laws of existence secure eternal life for a folk. The eternal life of the Euro-folk is the purpose of our work and all struggles. For “the victory of life is the purpose of the world”.

Everywhere we see manifestations of life, we recognize the will to preserve and perpetuate ones self and ones own race tribe. “The divine law of the individual is to preserve and defend its own kind.” (Houston Stewart Chamberlain). So each organism struggles for its life. Through that the world becomes the place of continuous struggle. It secures “the great health” for the world. For what can not triumph in struggle, necessarily perishes. Nature is the eternal teacher of the folks. It shows again and again the mortality of the individual, but also the endurance of the whole and the eternity of life-connections, at the same time shows the way by which this eternity will be won.

Nature is endlessly manifold and offers one and the same thing in a million-fold variety. But each organism and each act of Nature reveals certain laws. They are necessary, for without their necessity, hence without causality, there would be no order in the world. Order, however, belongs to the essence of life. It is the task of man to comprehend the order of Nature and to affirm its causality.

Through Wotanism reverence for life was reborn; and in the struggle for a true-to-kind world picture the consciousness within us has become awake, that we honor our indigenous gods and Allfather only by observing the eternal laws that rule the world as the Will of the God.

The Heart of Wotanism

By Ron McVan

Love, which is the deification of persons, must become more impersonal every day….a love which knows not sex, nor person, nor partiality….There are moments when the affections rule and absorb the man and make his happiness dependent on a person or persons. But in health the mind is presently seen again, its over-arching vault bright with galaxies of immutable lights, and the warm loves and fears, that swept over us as clouds, must lose their finite character and blend

It has been said that man loses his sense of direction when the compass of his soul is not magnetized by some great human star within the orbit of his experience. This truth has been intuitively understood in the realms of literature and of religion. When seeking spiritual guidance, man may follow his own personal path through Nature, science or philosophy, or gravitate to some specific religious ideal which best suits his needs. We know that man as a human being inevitably loves. Strip away all the trappings and everyday distractions of life and what is it that man is really seeking? The first is love, because without it, as humans, we feel empty and incomplete. Secondly would most certainly be the need for knowledge and or spiritual enlightenment as the means to lift oneself from a seemingly pointless mundane physical world of survival, in an effort to gain higher consciousness and thereby a better understanding of our soul’s journey and the universe of which we are a part.

In the later years of the 19th century many Europeans found themselves being reawakened to their ethnic ancestral pagan religions. This shift from the traditional religious thinking came about partly with an interest to go deeper into the mysteries as well as the need to bond once again with one’s ancestral roots, which Christianity and other alien eastern religions could not provide. The two Euro pagan religions that returned to prominence with the deepest and lasting impact were Teutonic Wotanism and Celtic Druidism, which together, fulfill the entire spiritual needs for all Europeans of the Western World. The religion of Wotanism has long been known as a warrior religion, And though it certainly does fit that description quite well, it is also balanced with a deep spirituality that respects and practices the tenets of love, compassion, generosity, high ethics and noble virtues, and the highest respect for Nature. In Wotanism it is recognized that any religion that is not of one’s own people, customs and culture, or does not contain the sufficient power to defend and sustain itself, is a suicide religion!

With a reverence towards the high warrior ethic, Wotanism is often misconstrued as being a male dominant religion that is all macho-warrior battle oriented and devoid of any sensitivity, love or sentimentality. From the surface with all the Viking trappings it is understandable that Wotanism may well be perceived that way. However, one need only probe a little deeper to find that this is not so and that Wotanism as a spiritual path is in perfect balance. The Chinese referred to the balance of opposite extremes as “Yin and Yang” and created a symbol to depict the visible essence of that balance which still remains perhaps the most perfect symbol to express that harmonious union of opposite extremes.

We find similar mischaracterizations of the many ancient European tribes as a whole, that were portrayed as male dominant, when in actual fact, the woman was the very center of the family and tribal life. Men fought to the bloody death for the safety and protection of their wife and family, farmed and hunted for the food to sustain the family, and built homes for their precious family, most always to their wives specifications. The woman’s universe was the home and the raising of the family. She was and is the very nucleus of the family unit!

In reality, the woman had the most important task of all. Preparing her children to meet the many challenges and harsh realities of life was certainly a full time and demanding endeavor! Women apparently were a tougher lot in ancient times than the women of today. They were largely responsible in preparing their boys to become competent warriors in their own way as much as the father. Trojan women for instance would send their boys off to war and tell them in parting, “Either return victorious with your shield or on it!” In those days of bloody hand to hand battle only a raving lunatic parent with a death wish for their child would tell him as he left home for war, “Oh, by the way my son! Don’t forget to turn the other cheek, and love your enemy!” When a religion bewilders or outright denies its adherents the freedom to follow their own natural instincts of self preservation, preferring them to be sheep and lambs, then that religion is surely paving the way to the eventual doom and extinction of its followers!

There are times for war. There are times for peace. There are times for love. And yes, there are justifiable times for hate as well. The danger of hate is that it can cause one to act with blind emotion and irrationality of thought. In times of hate one must remain rational, and level headed. Intelligence and patience are perhaps the best means by which to balance the scales of justice. The more we understand our emotions, the less excessive will be our appetites and desires. Mankind needs to find balance within themselves every bit as much as a religion must find its perfect center of balance.

Wotanism is built upon strength of character, knowledge, the powers of will, and spiritual enlightenment, but at the same time it understands the vital and necessary validity of both love and compassion. Foremost to any Wotanist is the love of family, folk and Nature. Wotanists are freethinkers and not narrow minded. Like many of their fellow pagans, they are lovers of knowledge, poetry, dance, music, art, beauty and spirituality. Wotanism has an equal balance in the respect and worship of both the male gods and female goddesses. As modern women become more familiar with the spiritual path of Wotanism they will find much to suit their feminine interests along with an abundance of female deities. In Wotanism both feminism and chauvinism are not encouraged. Both man and woman should always be equally respectful of each other because let’s face it, in so many ways they are each other and what is more, divinely designed for each others needs! Without each other we are never really whole. Anything which would drive a man and woman into hating their opposite gender is simply a disease of the mind! The fact that feminism and chauvinism thrive today in the modern world is the result of the discordant, sick and unbalanced society we have let ourselves become. Men and women were designed to love and comfort one another and produce children through the divine perfect union of physical and mental love. Without “Love” there is no life worth the living whatsoever! Love virtually is harmony, but take just a moment to consider what love in and of itself produces: It yields Goodness, Peace, Prosperity, Tranquility, Happiness, Success, Security, Joy, Beauty, Loveliness, Patience, Perseverance, Wisdom, Knowledge, Truth, Light, Understanding, Compassion, Justice, Generosity, Charity, Altruism, Honesty, Uprightness, Health, Purity, Youth, Life, and Perfection—all of which are conditions that are becoming less and less observed by most people in our modern societies today.

So many churches fill up with their congregations every Sunday and talk all about how kind and loving they are, then spend the rest of the week acting like devils! Man, with the help of his churches, has developed a very skewed image of himself. If humans were designed to be all loving creatures we would have done away with war and treachery thousands of years ago! People are prone to think of the Vikings as violent barbarians, but in reality, the world that we live in today is ten times more violent and ruthless then the Viking age or just about any other previous age. Wotanism, it must be made clear, was not born of the short 300 years of the Viking age, but is thousands of years old. The mystic spiritual writer Vernon Howard makes an interesting point on this subject when he states:

Most talk about love is just that—-talk. A man must behave according to his level of psychic development. No one can possibly behave on the higher level of love than the level he actually occupies. But remember, human beings are very cunning with exterior appearances of love, so don’t be fooled. By Self-work, a man can raise his love level. Then, he will behave differently, with more genuine compassion. That is an objective of the Mystic Path. We want to uplift our compassion by raising our spiritual level.”

The afterlife in Wotanism, as traditionally envisioned in mythology, unfolds around the Viking-like Great Hall of Valhalla, roofed with battle-shields and adorned with many spears. It would be easy for modern day women to get the feeling that Valhalla is completely male oriented as depicted in the Hollywood Viking movies, which grossly distorts the reality of Valhalla as a bunch of wild male warriors all carousing around a table drinking horns of mead with mighty Wotan. Valhalla, stripped of its Hollywood and mythological interpretations is simply a higher spiritual plain of existence than lived out here in Midgard (earth), the lower realm of corporal flesh and matter. When reading in books about warriors that are required to prove themselves in battle before they can ever hope to enter Valhalla, that too can become quite misleading. Not everyone is expected to fight some epic heroic war on a bloody battlefield in order to prove their worthiness into Valhalla. The battles can be of a much different reality entirely. It might be as common as fighting an illness or working hard to raise your family or a charitable act for those in need, a life lived in honor and integrity or any number of Right-Life actions. The object is to simply be valiant, fearless, honorable and intelligent in all your actions, trials and tribulations here in Midgard. As the basic Wotanist maxim goes: “DO RIGHT AND FEAR NO ONE!”

Just as within both family and tribe, the feminine and masculine must always find a perfect balance and when it comes to religion it is no different. In Christianity, the Catholics retained much of their pagan traditions because they understood that it was necessary. Knowing that there must be both a male and female polarity balance in a religion, they made their Virgin Mary essentially into a convenient female goddess to counter the masculine Jesus figure. The protestants on the other hand worship only the masculine and go with the Semitic bible line that women are inferior to men and must live only as servant to the male. Thus, the protestant religion remains severely lopsided. Kahlil Gibran made this keen observation about the saintly mother figure: “The most beautiful word on the lips of mankind is the word “Mother”, and the most beautiful call is the call of “My Mother”. It is a word full of hope and love, a sweet and kind word coming from the depth of the heart. The mother is every thing—she is our consolation in sorrow, our hope in misery, and our strength in weakness. She is the source of love, mercy, sympathy, and forgetfulness. He who loses his mother loses a pure soul who blesses and guards him constantly.” The same holds true with the Mother goddess. The world that we know is a mix of flowing male and female energies and to deny one is to deny the unequivocal universal law of polarity.

Love is not what the conditioned human mind wants it to be, but always what it really is. A false desire for love to be this or that is like adding paint to a river in order to give color to a waterfall. Love must be left alone by the mind; it must be permitted to be exactly what it is. Love left alone, glows in all its natural beauty.” ~ Kahlil Gibran

Wotanism does not instill upon its people to conform to some ridged priori dogma or harbor unnatural fears that should they stray too far from divine law, that they will certainly burn in some horrid terrible hell forever and ever! Nor does it burden anyone with the cruel and highly un-natural idea that all humans are born sinners! As if a new born baby is supposed to know the difference between right and wrong! In Wotanism there are presented sound and practical codes of ethics which serve as suggestions, towards values and virtues that can generate healthy and valiant character traits for one to live by. These codes of ethics are handed down from our wise and knowledgeable ancestors and correlate with the divine law of our tribal ethnic gods. To force someone to conform to a teaching through fear is highly un-natural and produces un-natural results.

Our consciousness of the Absolute, is achieved progressively as the mind moves through the three stages from art, to religion, and finally to philosophy. Art provides “a sensuous semblance of the Idea” by providing the mind with an object of sense. In the object of art, the mind apprehends the Absolute as beauty. The object of art, moreover, is the creation of Spirit and as such contains some aspect of the Idea.” ~ Hegel

One will find infinite room for expression in art and beauty in both Teutonic Wotanism and Celtic Druidism. The arts play an extremely important role in any religion or folk community. The arts serve to inspire and stimulate high ideals of love of beauty and harmony while providing endless pleasure to its audience. Art scholar F.W. Ruckstull (1925) made this salient comment on the subject of art:

For art as nothing else, sets up rich ideals of mate selection between man and woman. It teaches men and woman what is and what is not beautiful, what to select and what to reject in each other. And mate-selection between man and woman is the supreme cause of racial glory and decline. Art absolutely creates for us our ideals of human beauty and inner excellence. And our ideals of beauty and inner excellence determine the basis of all evolution, mate-selection. Beauty is thus Nature’s flaming banner of her own evolution. And if, as we have seen, ideals of physical beauty can, through marriage selection, change the faces of men, so can moral beauty, by the same process, change the minds and hearts of men. Art is thus man’s highest contribution to the evolutionary process.”

Wotanists do not live in a vacuum self consumed as a tribe and blind to the world at large. The future of all mankind, the planet and all living creatures are a vital responsibility which cannot be ignored. We may have inherited a world of discord but it does not have to remain this way, in fact it cannot! The entire planet will not survive very much longer unless the nations of the world work together to make significant inroads for World Peace and Harmony among ourselves and with the planet that we inhabit. If the planet dies all of humanity dies with it! Harmony is the absence of discord and discord is what is leading all of mankind and the planet to it’s certain death should we continue to ignore the obvious!

Truth is within ourselves; it takes no rise, from outward things, whatever you may believe. There is an inmost center in us all, where truth abides in fullness; and around, wall upon wall, the gross flesh hems it in, this perfect clear perception—-which is truth. A baffling and perverting carnal mesh binds it, and makes all error: and to know, rather consists in opening our way whence the imprisoned splendor may escape, Than in effecting entry for a light supposed to be without.” ~ Robert Browning
