Sex-selection techniques allow parents to pick a boy or girl. Is that right?http://feeds2.feedburner.com/~r/Livesciencecom/~4/KDyt7jvOqFE

I have a boy and three girls and I would opt to have number five if I could be sure is was a boy. I don't think it should be used for "chinese" purposes.

It's not appropriate for couples who are either childless or have only one child so far, and want to choose the sex of their 1st or 2nd baby.

It's only appropriate for parents who already have several children of one sex and wish for a child of the opposite sex. I know a couple that has 4 boys and they desperately wanted their 4th child to be a girl, but it was another boy. And I know another couple that has had 3 girls and then hoped for a boy, but they didn't get one. I wouldn't mind if those couples chose sex selection to pick the baby they wish for.

I can sympathise with the reasons given above, but I do not think that I would be able to kill my own child just because it had the wrong gender. :|

It would be nice if they had pills for men and women to take that would make the conception a male or female by choice. No killing in the womb.

It is interesting that usually there is a natural equilibrium of males and females, with a slight overhead of females.
I would not dare to destroy this natural equilibrium, I find such practices highly dangerous.

I would be afraid to mess with the beauty of mother nature. I think the couple should just happy that they even have the chance of conceiving a child at all. There are so many couples with infertility, that they would give anything to have either sex if not both at the same time or multiplied.
