It is that time of the year to give a little, so how does one give a little? I sent a note to the administrator, but is there an area where one can make an automated donation that I have not found?

As it says in the donation thread (http://forums.skadi.net/showthread.php?t=28234), donations are currently closed. We thank you for your patience while we update the payment options and Funding Member Benefits!

Excellent. I know what I'm doing tomorrow. As a Mod I already enjoy most of the privileges that come with it, sometimes even transcending that (such as PM storage limit), with the only thing yet unrevealed to me, the Funding-Member Section.

Still, to me it is not about the privileges, but about donating for the good cause of helping to sustain the best place for Germanic preservation there has ever been, there is, and there will ever be. That alone is worth my little donation. :thumbup

Now just to run to the bank to actually get some money into my bank account in the very morning. No money in the bank, no PayPal transaction. :P

All fine and good, but what is this Anti-War Day 2009. What kind of organisations are behind that day?

It's not about spending money on beer or not. It's about having been out of the UK for close to two months, only coming back yesterday, and thus having all the excess money on the Austrian card, that's all. :P

Please also include a Bavarian-style hat, a few keyrings and a correct measurement of all your extremities, so we can enable your funding membership. :jk

About damn time.

Okay, just to let you know that I did make a donation of 10.00USD (one month) using the link for non-members for a non-recurring Funding Member membership.

Same here. Although I don't post as often as others, Skadi has proven a valuable resource to me, so I want to bring my contribution somehow.

Moderators, why my ID is not red any longer? It was indeed red until I updated my Sub.

Sigurd

It takes a few hours before your account as a Funding Members is updated again - for those few hours your name will be in normal colour, whilst you should still enjoy all the connected privileges.

This is because upon a donation, it would appear that the account is placed into the "Funding Members (Current)" group, whilst after a bit, they should be added back into the Žengaz group.

I couldn't tell you why this is happening, but everything should be fine, and your account should be back to normal soon enough (a few hours at most). It might have to do something with the fact that in the old days, you needed to apply for the group membership after you made your donation, it could be some old setting.

Perhaps Aeternitas can have a look into the matter altogether. :)

Indeed, mine was not red until some time after I funded. It was not an immediate process, so I suppose the update needs some waiting.

It takes some time for the user promotions to complete and Žengaz to be added as your additional group.

However, if you have been promoted to Žengaz already and you still don't show up in red, it could be an issue relating to which usergroup vBulletin assigns as your display usergroup. You can fix this by going to your User CP > Group Memberships > and scroll to "You may choose to be identified as a member of the following groups". Tick Žengaz and you should show up in red.

To those who prefer to donate by sending mail to the PO box, please don't forget to specify your user name in the letter. Once you have sent the letter, contact us via the contact form (http://forums.skadi.net/sendmessage.php?), and specify the amount you have donated, so that we could verify that the money has arrived completely and intact.

If you choose to donate as a guest, also contact us with evidence (for example a screenshot, or your subscription ID).

Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far.

I am a little short on money at the moment, but I'd like to contribute soon.

What is done with the money from donations? Extra space?

Aeternitas

The money is used to pay part of the server costs. By donating, members help keep Skadi up and running.

By what method might we donate funds strictly to support Skadi Forum?
I am not certain I am comfortable with overflow funds going elsewhere.

No letter you send in this world requires that you specify who sent it. It's only considered common and polite practice. :)

So, of course you can send it without writing "Peter Muller, 359 Mulholland Drive, New Jersey NJ????", if you wish to wrap the money by a birthday card to make it intransparent for the office worker, this is actually how I usually send money, by making it intransparent.

If you want to benefit from your donation by becoming a Funding Member, you should make sure you specify your nickname, with "Forum Donation" noted as intended use somewhere on it. Otherwise how is anyone to know who donated? :P

As per this (http://forums.skadi.net/showthread.php?t=28234) thread, We accept all currencies but prefer EUR, USD, GBP, and CHF.. So yes, using dollars is fine. :)

How do you become a funding member?

What is the minimum a person can pay per month?

What are the accepted payments?

Do you guys only accept wire transfer via pay pal?

I'm thinking of donating. I'm wondering about the privacy of records. How are they handled, if and when the current German government decides that they want information about 'neo-Nazis' posting on Skadi and raid your premises?

Starting next month expect regular payments from me.

All money of course will be USD that I will be sending.

I will be mailing cash in that I don't trust most online wire transfers.

This forum is based in America, it would be difficult for the German government or any government to obtain records. Even the American government would have much trouble gaining access, even if they could.

There are a lot members here that donate that are German and National Socialist. I think they feel safe otherwise they would not donate.

6. Authorized Law Enforcement

Skadi Forum will not cooperate with any law enforcement agencies other than those that hold jurisdiction over its server, hitherto called authorized law enforcement. It will in particular not cooperate with foreign pariah regimes that have a record of premeditated disrespect for human rights and freedom of expression.

Skadi Forum will not voluntarily provide a complete record of its database or a complete record of its log files to authorized law enforcement, except for the case that it is ordered to do so by a Court of Law.

Skadi Forum reserves the right, however, to provide on demand, requested excerpts of its database or its log files to authorized law enforcement, if such a measure appears, having considered all the circumstances, necessary in order to prevent a confiscation of its server or complete database.

I followed the directions provided to give a donation, but it seems I can only donate funds to "Anti-War Day and related legal defense issues". Have I done something wrong then, or is it not possible to donate money that ends up in the hands of Skadi Forum for the moment being?

If my funds are not needed right now to keep the forum up and running, I'd rather save them for another time when it is.

Methinks the anti-war day is a pretext/cover not to have the name Skadi registered in the records, probably out of member security or privacy concerns?

As German, I felt safe enough to donate.

This weekend I plan on mailing $20.00 USD in support of the forum in which will be the mark of regular donations I plan on contributing monthly.

I look forward to be a contributing member of this internet community and website. :)

Yes, the "anti-war" stuff was a "disguise" due to some security reasons, but since it got people confused, we removed it. The money donated by users will only end up in Skadi hands and will be used exclusively for forum-related hosting and management.

P.S. Since 2010 is over we compiled the statistics for donations received in the last 2 years. On average, Skadi receives about 800 USD/year in the form of donations. This helps cover a little less than a quarter of the server costs, which currently amount to 4000 USD/year (used to be 3000). So every contribution counts, no matter whether it's 10 or 100 USD, no matter if it's recurring or a one-time donation. Thanks once again to those who financially support us. :)

A small reminder when it comes to donations: those who make a donation with an e-mail address that differs from the one used on Skadi are encouraged to either make a note with their username, or send us a message via the "contact us" form (or contact an administrator) after they've completed their donation. This is necessary to link the donation with your forum account. Thank you. :)
