The team of Blut und Boden proudly presents "BuBlish", the new forum's language. It's very easy, everyone of you can learn it very quickly. So don't be afraid.

THE RULES

* replace every "o/O" with an "å/Å"
* replace every "oi/Oi" with an "ø/Ø"
* replace every "a/A" with an "æ/Æ"
* replace every "th/Th" with an "ð/Ð"
for advanced speakers of BuBlish:
* replace every "i/I" with an "í/Í"
* replace every "u/U" with an "ú/Ú"

Finally the text above will look like this in BuBlish:

Ðe teæm åf Blút únd Båden pråúdly presents "BúBlísh", ðe new fårúm's længúæge. Ít's very eæsy, everyåne åf yåú cæn leærn ít very quíckly. Så dån't be æfræíd.

Ðís ðreæd ís súppåsed tå be a plæce får længúæge stúdíes får BúBlísh. Pleæse då ånly påst in BúBlísh here. Ðænk yåú.

It would be best to print out one of those sites and keep it on your desk. Not that you are required to post in that thread of course. It's just for silly fun. ;)

I find myself forced to post in American English. First, many of the characters called for are not on American keyboards, and, though it is possible to obtain foreign characters byholding Alt down and entering a 3-digit code on the numeric keypad, this does not work in replies to posts.

Although a with a volle, (usually pronounced "aw") could be substituted for "o"
two a's with volles make a long "aw" sound, NOT the long "u" sound which is represented by "oo" in English.

The ambiguity of the ae diphthong existed even in Anglo-Saxon. It is, however, even more difficult in Bublish to determine, except from context, whether it is to be pronunced as a long "eh" (like the "eah" in "yeah") or as the American short "a" as in "cat."

The rules of Bublish are a bit too arbitrary in that they do not take account of the pronunciation of some words and the fact that some vowels may be silent in English. Are they, then, to be pronounced in Bublish ? For example, the a in "dread" is not pronunced in English, the word could as well be spelt "dred". It appears , from the Bublish texts I have seen that, in that language, it would be pronounced "dreh-ad"

I think that Bublish is a lovely idea, but it needs a bit of tweaking.

Anybody who bought his computer in the US has this problem, Leifr. I can obtain some but not all of these characters by holding down "Alt" and entering a 3-digit code on the numeric keypad, but I can't do that in a post. No matter what code I enter, I get "?" .
