Fight is on to save ancient forest

BUFFALO, N.Y. Erie County, New York, is considering using eminent domain to seize control of a rare forest that sprang hundreds of years ago from Lake Erie's sandy shore.

The forest contains hemlock, black cherry and oak trees, and experts say it's the oldest forest in the state.

They say it's even more exceptional is its location on a sand dune.

The only other old-growth dune hemlocks are on Lake Michigan's eastern coastline in northern Michigan, in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.

Hemlocks are seldom found in sand because of their need for constant moisture.

I only hope that sense prevails within the humans.
Cutting down century year old masterpieces of nature to merely erect inferior buildings of quite laughable 'mansions'? of human greed.

Seriously there is too much population.

Yeah population increase in the United States is worse than ever. Just as the Schwarzwald in Germany will be destroyed because of the Autobahn(pollution,etc.). The Germans will be upset because that is part of their culture also(fast driving). I do not see why some care about the roads more than the Black Forest. When population skyrockets in Germany the Black Forest could be doomed :(
