I've just noticed those valknuts under the username, being some darker than others deppending on the user. Is it a kind of reputation line, like the green squares? I'm curious.

Although I don't know what they mean I really like them, they give a more germanic style to the forum :)

They are indicators of the member's rank. :)

To be honest, I don't like em. Sorry Raven! Jaggedy and asymmetrical, so they are. And are they really 'Germanic' in terms of having a recorded provenance among our common ancestors in Ancient Germania? I'd never heard of em before I started coming on these forums...

What did we use to have in that place? Was it those Oranges and Hazelnuts that we had on Skadi, with a little glint of light on them? They were nice and round and reassuring, and looked like they'd taste nice... :p

The only thing I would bring up about it is the number of them I have got. :(
And others!

Am I not considered a regular member?

In this thread, you also have Lyfing, Dagna and Fallen Angel who all are regular members in my eyes, and they only have one each as well.

Apart from that they look good.

I think the Valknuts are a good choice too. They reflect the Germanic theme of the forum. :)

The regular members are few on this forum. It's about bein a member of a private forum called the round table or somethin like that. I applied but wasn't accepted as a member. Thing is ya have to be accepted by the inner circle of regulars (those members who have their usernames in italics) and if they don't like ya, tough luck. That's democrazy. ;)

Ah-Ha! I see.

It's the old 'wink-wink Nudge-nudge - shaking of the hand with one leg behind your back' thing!

:D

Hmm. I think the forum would be better without these Valknuts.

We already know the status of moderators by the green text of their username. And the delineation between registered & regular members is unnecessary, since Round Table has been suspended and/or is inactive.

How does one become a regular.

I split the discussion about Germanic symbols:

If you are truly interested in making the forum look better, I believe you should drop your silly, childish avatars and choose something more Germanic and compatible with the nature of this forum.

Thanks for the answers! Now I finally understood the meaning of the valknots in members profiles. :)

Wow! I never thought my thread would have such repercussion! :p

I must say, this complaining is a little beyond me. The people complain about a few Germanic symbols under the usernames or about threads discussing Nationalsocialism, which are at least Germanic things and fit perfectly under this forum's dedication, but they find it acceptable to post celebrity gossip, sex tabloid threads and post with avatars like OneEnglishNorman's. I have not an opposition with people parading other things which aren't Germanic, but the double standards and intolerance for things which are Germanic are a little annoying.

?

I am just querying the status forum function.

I have no opinion on them as symbols. I had never heard of them before today.

Whether the status is signified by valknuts or swords or heraldry etc etc etc does not bother me.

OEN's avatar is a social commentary piece. it is artwork. it makes a statement about what is taking the place of germanic culture.

Dagna's avatar is a woman with a shawl, head scarf, and clay pot, I don't see how its any more Germanic than it is slavic, or for that matter Hittite.

Todesengel's avatar isn't very Germanic either, it is a hot topless girl though, so there is no ground to be won fighting against it.

My avatar is clearly neither Germanic, funny, sexy or anything. It seems to me that some people here would find it acceptable if the gorillas were wearing laderhosen and drinking from huge steins.

I didn't know what a Valknut was 30 minutes ago nor do I have any use for them, but now I see others with more Valknuts than me and I'm starting to get jealous.

She is neither Slavic nor Hittite, but a German woman doing a reenactment scene of the Alamanni, a Germanic tribe. I found the link on a Germanic folk dress thread. Here is the German page about Alamannic dress:

I have a Germanic avatar now. ;)

The goth girl wasn't topless at all by the way. She was wearing a backless and shoulderless dress. Your imagination isn't very clean is it. :p For your information nonetheless, I didn't say all avatars must be Germanic, don't confuse me, but it's stupid to complain about those symbols that are. It's a double standard to complain about threads on NS and valknuts but accept other things which are borderline related. I didn't complain about anyone's avatar or celebrity threads, because I accept them. ;)

So Germanic serial killers are acceptable, because they are Germanic? I complained about the NS thread because it was a gratification thread with compliments for maniacs.

LOL how silly. I guess if tomorrow Raven adds a new dot to the forum there will be 15 people discussing, nagging and fighting about that dot.

That page is in German, so i can't read it.

The idea of doing a reenactment of the Alemanni, given how little we know about them, is quite absurd if you ask me. If I saw that woman on the street i would give her a dollar and ask to have my fortune read.

Who said anything like this? The thread was about the look of Nationalsocialist men, you suppose now we should say they're all ugly because it's not politically correct to say they were handsome? :p But this is off the topic anyway, some people here seem to take offense at practically anything. ;)

We Germans also do reenactments of the Franks, on who we have more data, and they wore scarves on their heads too. ;)

I close this thread because it turned into just pointless arguing. The valknuts are here and this is how the situation is at least for the present time. Some like them, some don't like them, that is life. It's the same about the avatars of users (as long as they don't break the rules). Not everyone can agree on everything and we don't need drama between us about it.
