Two planetary scientists say that the chemical signatures of Venusian clouds suggest the presence of microbes. Furthermore, solar winds could blow the microbes to Earth. Their research ("On the possibility of microbiota transfer from Venus to Earth") has been published online in the journal Astrophysics and Space Science (Read abstract (http://forums.skadi.net/redirector.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.spri ngerlink.com%2Fcontent%2Fv114hv616312078 w%2F%3Fp%3D6b88214f118d4218bbafd8642eaea f3a%26pi%3D6)).

Life on Venus could be blown to Earth by powerful winds, scientists claim.

Previous research has considered the possibility of micro organisms existing in Venus's atmosphere despite extreme temperatures on its surface.

But two scientists at the Cardiff Centre for Astrobiology say microbes from Venus could actually be blown into the Earth's atmosphere by solar winds. Their findings follow analysis of data from the European Space Agency's Venus Express probe, launched in 2005.

Its amazing how they can travel and so fastly with these solar winds and survive through the atmosphere and not disintegrate , while our space travel technology is still at a snails pace.

I just wonder if these micro organisms are harmful and could be the cause of certain diseases or such.

Would be interesting to know since Venus' environment is very hostile; continuous massive lightning storms, acidic and sulfuric rain, etc. It's no surprise that these microbes are resilient to the test of space.

It is not impossible that Earth could have been seeded with life originating in the atmosphere of Venus. This possibility does NOT solve the problem of the origin of life on Earth. It merely moves it to an even less plausible source.

How did there come to be microorganisms in the atmosphere of Venus ? Could life actually have originated above the surface of that hellish planet ? If not, where could they have come from and how could they have got there ?

This discovery, if valid, surely raises many more problems than it solves.
