Im curious, do you lot understand the old sagas, like they are written originally?

Even though the sagas were written in the 13th century we Icelanders understand them fully since unlike the other Nordic tongues our language hasn’t changed for a thousand years.

Somewhere between 50% and 70%? Depends on the person I guess. And as Stig says, some dialects are pretty close, especially the Sognemål. Icelanders in Norway usually are amazed on the likeness of language in that area. And I guess it is safe to say some Norwegians have to concentrate 100% to understand what the sognepeople say too ;)
