This might be a stupid question. Is there any relationship between looking young for your age and paedomorphy?

Apparantely my face is Paedomorphic and I still get ID's at some bars (I'm 24), so my guess is yes! :tongeuy

I look very young for my age as well.

I will be 18 in half a year, yet I still look closer to 15 (yeah its that bad).

People give me looks when I drive past , and although it is irritating as hell, I can't really blame them.

While all my friends are slightly younger than me and have been shaving for several years, I have never touched a razor in my life!

I have the "childlike" facial features of the small nose, eyes, big forehead, fine head hair, that only add to the 'neontenous' look.

I am 5'6 and 130-135 lbs (165 cm and 50-60 kg (??), I live in a country that uses the metric system too. I know, we're Americanized), so the influence is seen in my stature as well.

The childlike look that I possess could perhaps be attributed to Paedomorphy, or, although I have yet to observe similar traits among my relatives, ancestry from the Sami.

Perhaps I'll never know!

Hmm..your case sounds a bit more extreme than mine, but then your a few years younger than me. You are still maturing at 17 / 18. Once you get to 20 / 21, then you stop growing and start changing and looking more masculine I found. At 17 you still have the teenage look, but that will disappear in a few years. I usually get taken for being 19. I'm 5'8" which is slightly shorter than average. My guess is that low stature contributes to the effect. If you were 6'2" then you'd be less likely to get taken for someone younger.

Actually, your description reminded me of the Norwegian football player - Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (sp?) who also has a very childlike face. Perhaps he has a Saami influence?

This is common for Nords, though. We tend to look younger longer if we stay out of the sun.

I just turned 29 and I still get asked for ID when I buy cigarettes (the legal smoking age here is 18). I love telling people that. :D

Wow, that's almost as bad as me. I'll be 26 in August, and every so often I still get carded. It's rare, but it happens.
For girls it's probably pretty flattering. Yet for me...geez.
I know there's such a thing as 'boyish good looks'. If I had the 'good looks' part I probably would not complain, but as it is I wish nature would just cut me a break and let me either gain some weight or look my age.

You can have my weight, Azdaja. As much as you want, dear.

Did I mention that I'm 29 and I still get carded often? :D
